The argument is asinine. Every state on the Atlantic coast is in the East. So yes, Virginia is in the East, it is also in the South. You can have more than one designation at a time.

I kinda get what he’s saying. I live in Dallas, (which is the south) and interact with a lot of people from Louisiana and Mississippi.
At the same time, part of my family has roots in VA and I have a lot of relatives up there.
There’s a huge difference. I’ll just put it like this, when people talk about “southern hospitality” they definitely aren’t talking about people from Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi.
