Who here has actually been to Rio and is not just going off second hand accounts? The tourist areas are pretty safe. Don't stand out like an obvious target and you will be fine. I was.

Not all of Rio is run down shanty towns and goons salivating at the mouths waiting to rob nikkas. They robbing cacs wandering around in dark alleys at 3 AM after a night out getting fukked up thinking they're in Prague or some shyt. Is anyone here really going to do this in Rio?

As long as you're not walking around with a fanny pack, a big ass DSLR around your neck and a t-shirt that says USA, you're gonna be fine. Even if you wore this, you'd be safe (unless it was 3 am of course ) Just be normal and aware of your surroundings, same street smarts you'd use anywhere.

I will say the creepers and goons start coming out at night around the beaches when the tourist go back to their rooms and it can get a little dicey if you're getting drunk and acting stupid.

I'm pretty sure it's just like major cities in the US, you have your bad parts of town and your good parts of town, except their bad parts of town are Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome status.

Aint nobody scared breh. I've lived in 3 continents and travel frequently. I'm just saying you should always be careful when you're not in your own land. You need to know the customs if you plan to venture outside the tourists areas.
And cacs stay doing dumb shyt in other people's countries so that doesn't help your argument. You got cacs getting caught climbing mountains in Iran or trying to fukk around in North Korea.
