niccas hate the south here.
The taste of the people who have been consistently voting in your tournament threads doesn't reflect the taste of the board as a whole. If you just made a Juvenile vs Freeway thread - i think Juvenile would win. With a big majority. There's always a 400 degrees appreciation thread. A lot of people think the album is a classic.
Now as for why the people who care to vote in the tournament ain't got no love for Juvy? I have no idea :yeshrug:

I never was a Juvi fan and Free knows how to make good albums. I think Gucci is absolute trash too so no way Im voting for him unless its Coolio lol. I did vote for Master P tho. That was a no brainer

E-40 over Heavy D but that's a tough one. Went with E-40 tho cuz he's a icon in the Bay.

being a legend in hip-hop >>> being an icon on a secluded island

i dont know whos getting done worse in here, heavy d or juvi.

E 40 had much more staying power. Heavy D was pretty corny by the mid 90s

alot of people say e-40 was always corny.

heavy d was hot from like '86-97. thats over a decade and those were the hardest times to stay relevant, especially on the east coast.

heavy's longevity >>> e-40's
and he reached much greater heights, which are much harder to maintain than e-40's position

Heavy D was dope, you don't want everyone to be a killer/drug dealer rapper, he made a lot of dope music, flavourful, light hearted, with some skills and having fun. Heavy D was never corny to me, always liked his music.

E-40 is an acquired taste, I respect the fact he has his own style and is authentic.

I don't know about 97 breh. Maybe 94 when he was dropping shyt like Black Coffee. Plus I don't think he even came out till 88. Heavy d is a legend but even he admitted shyt was never right after Troube T Roy passed. E 40 been around since the mid 90s and is still relevant now. He still getting features on big time singles. Very few people have that kind of longevity

just because you have a feature on a big time single, it doesnt mean that youre relevant. e-40 hasnt been relevant in years. and even when he was, he wasnt big.

heavy d came out in '87 and dropped "big daddy" in '97, which was bigger than any song e-40 has ever dropped. he was relevant on a large scale thru the 4 most competitive eras of hip-hop.

and lets be reality, even if e-40 was relevant now, it wouldnt mean anything. "relevance" and longevity thru the past 10 years of hip-hop holds no weight in all-time convos. the game is too political now.
