Okay i'm done raging.

Normal mode:

VR will be fine. It needs a hard sell. I've been reading impressions by people online and I saw quite a few say "i didn't care about VR" or they were skeptical and after trying it they were on board. This was from a few days ago when Bestbuy had PSVR events nationwide. Next Friday I'll be trying it out.

I don't give a shyt about your pre-order.
You constantly quoting me shows otherwise :sas2:

Calm down fanboy. We will know soon enough how the market reacts to it. I think Sony has the best chance to get this to a wide audience, but it is not out yet.

What is the first VR game you are picking up anyway?

PSVR will might sale good, but the games will be relegated to fairly shallow experiences.

In that way I can see it being like the Wii.

People will buy it, mess around with it for a couple weeks, then put it in a box waiting for a great gaming experience that never comes.

If VR is to ever take off in the mainstream it's gonna need a full budget, GTA, Uncharted type game that the masses feel the HAVE to have.

Rigs ain't it:francis:

I understand that. Price is another barrier along with all the aforementioned challenges.
I am also not as optimistic as you guys were with the "success" of the kinect. It was an accessory that was bundled with some SKUs of the 360, FORCED with the XBOX ONE and also sold separately. The core gaming community also rejected the Kinect.

We will never know percentages, but I can't imagine that the Kinect as a standalone accessory sold a significant chunk of the overall numbers. Link it if you have the real numbers.

Nah i'm just fukking around lol.

Seriously though I'm not fully on board yet. I've only tried the samsung Gear VR and while it was cool, it wasn't "OMG I NEED THIS" cool because it wasn't really a game or anything. it was one of those T-Mobile store units.

Next friday I'm going to try it out at Bestbuy. They're having events where you can try it out. If I like it and feel that it's amazing, I'll keep my pre-order.
Experience PlayStation VR You can put your zip code in and see where it'll be.

Not sure about launch titles yet I haven't looked into them yet.

Gran Turismo Sport is what people should be paying attention to when it comes to the announced VR titles.

The OG Kinect was/is the best selling consumer device of its type.

Xbox one Kinect standalone not so much.

GT Sport should be good.

I think from what people have said is that games that look "eh" or shallow on TV is completely different when you're actually playing it.

It's already struggling to stay at 60fps without VR.

It's gonna have to be barebones as fukk to work with PSVR.

I'm very skeptical of all these titles they keep saying are coming to PSVR. Notice we have not seen any of them, other than games like Rigs and Golem.

I'm not just talking about visuals. But from a gameplay standpoint as well. The games are shallow minigame type stuff.

Things you wouldn't even touch without VR, then when amazement of wears off, your left with some shyt that really isn't even enjoyable.

Xbox one Kinect standalone not so much.
So let's think about this logically. Why did the Kinect 2.0 fail then? It might have sold a bunch because it caught that casual wave (and bundled in), but to outright call it a success outside of the numbers is kinda :ld:

A commercial success for me is more than just sales numbers. For as much of a financial success the first Kinect was for Microsoft...it got people pissed that it was forced to be bundled in with their next generation console. Meaning that shortly after opening the box and using the first Kinect...the experience was :francis:

Kinect 2.0 is MUCH better than the first one as well.

TBH The PS VR might suffer the same fate. Much more vulnerable because of the high price point.

I only called it a commercial success. I actually called it a failure in its impact on gamers/gaming.

Price turned the Kinect from a asset to a liability. Had X1 launched at $400 with Kinect it would have done a lot better.

But again I'm not even trying to argue that the Kinect was successful outside of sales numbers.

It failed.......but it's still "Xbox on" all day :manny:
