You can minimize him all you want. As an old head I can tell you you're gonna be on the wrong side of history. When you're in the middle of biggie and pac you can't appreciate until later. Actually, 2pac was hated. Fake ice cube, hypocrite, fake thug. It was a long list.

I'm not that invested. I just know how to tell hype from good music. I never said he was trash, I just don't consider him an elite artist outside of his success in the mainstream. Im not minimizing him.
And in his case. It was. First Project in 06. Second Project in 07. Third Mixtape Project has album features and the biggest rapper in the world at that point, with a cosign by him. And by early 2010 hes the biggest rapper in the game. Plus funded all of his studio time with child actor money.
That's not really what I would call self made. Got the push from Lil Wayne, and a push from the industry as a whole, and here he is.
I look at him more as a brand than an artist now. He still makes good songs every now and then though.
