Wait, hold up. Why isn't Jason Campbell a starter in the league this year?

People love to gloss over the fact that Jason had 2 HCs, 4 OCs, and a porous offensive line in Washington and despite all that, put up mid tier numbers over his career. How is that type of instability a recipe for success

Contrary to what the hype-machine would have you believe, QBs are supposed to be game managers, not superheroes.

He was doing well in Oakland until he got hurt, and now he is backing up Jay Cutler for a good salary.

Jason is better than about 35-40% of the QBs starting right now, and his age has nothing to do with him not having a job. I've seen ancient MFs in Kerry Collins and Hasselback get gigs. Washed up Mofos like Derek Anderson, and a dead body in Mark Brunell making 5 million dollars to mentor Mark Sanchez.

Redskins fans act like they have a rich deep history of QB play....

Yall and Shanahan deserver each other.

Jason Campbell sucks but Rex Grossman and Beck are the answer.

I kind of feel bad for RG3. Shanahan jr, gonna show that nikka a trick before the season is over

could you be more specific in what he has done to mandate a starting position?

since when is being a starter in the NFL about past accomplishments? This is the same league that has Mark Sanchez & Matt Ryan as starting QBs.

Jason Campbell HAS been blackballed, and we all know why.

stop playing the race card :smh:

hes an average qb who's clearly not starting caliber

his best season he had was 20 tds 15 ints :scusthov:

I don't know if it's race but explain to me how Alex Smith is still starting while Campbell isn't.

Campbell is better than several QB's starting right now.

you saying something and it being true aren't necessarily the same thing. now if you don't feel inclined to support your argument, then by all means say so

I half agree with you. Campbell should be a starting QB in this league, I think he was better than Carson Palmer but let's not act like San Francisco had too many better options than better Alex Smith over the past 8 years. We blew 2 draft picks (Nate Davis and arguably Colin Kaepernick) trying to replace the guy and had multiple guys who had a shot at starting but wasn't ultimately better, we had 2 opportunities max to let him go and the other options weren't even that great. That being said, Campbell will start before Week 6, Cutler is made of glass.

Cardinals, Vikings, jags, SF, SEAHAWKS are not in the nfl anymore? Link?

Cardinals - No, John Skelton is 24 years old and can only improve, he's arguably better than Kevin Kolb, so no

Vikings - No argument here :obama:

Jaguars - This team lives off the running game and a tough Defense, also, they are still trying to figure out Blaine Gabbert, they gave him an extremely talent but troubled rookie to throw the ball to, so no.

San Francisco - Alex Smith is better than Jason Campell, I'll take a QB that throws for 18 TD and 5 int over a QB that gives me 20 TD 15 INT his best season, besides Alex is 2-3 years younger and still has a little upside, also Alex Smith the the more mobile QB so no, Injuries will have forced Jason Campbell to stay in the pocket and with SF at times iffy pass blocking, dude will go out on a cart.

Seahawks - :obama: I'll give that but Russel Wilson is balling out of control and they got Matt Flynn, so no.

So no Jason Cambell has few if any places he can really start anymore.

yes I beleive that in 2012 teams would rather lose with a white QB than win with a black QB.
give me a fukkin break. teams can't AFFORD to be racist with their decisions anymore lol

coaches and GM's don't have long leashes anymore. you either win or you are fired. if the black qb gives you the best opportunity then you go for it.
if the white qb gives you the best opportunity then you use him

I don't beleive at any point that a coach or team would choose a white player over a black player unless they honestly felt like he gave them the better chance to win.

BUT since so many of you dumbasses on here know so much more than all the guys that have been doing it for YEARS its just easier to call em CAC's and blame it on some racism that some average to below average QB isn't starting in the same league that is allowing players like Rex grossman and Kyle orton start....oh wait....

Jason Campbell = Kyle Orton
Where are all the ppl backing Orton?

why isn't he starting anymore??

instead of you guys just saying this. Why don't you throw down some meat to back it up

where are all these teams that would be better of with Jason Campbell starting for them this year??

I can't think of ANY right now

ZERO

he is a great number 2 guy though, because he has some experience and poise
but he isn't a starter in this league (Anymore)

shyt, Matt Moore should be starting before him

Bruh, I'm just saying, Alex Smith should not be starting, period. I don't care how much shyt he's been through. How does a player who has put up marginal numbers still start after 7 seasons? I can tell you Cambpell would have had a far shorter leash than Alex.

I also don't think you can write of Kaep just year.

You're right, there weren't better options on the team, but that was by design. Sing didn't want to ruin his confidence. They traded Hill and brought in Carr...just to protect poor old Alex Smith.

Cambpell and Alex Smith to me are in the same mold...how one is a backup and the other just signed a big multi-year contract as a starter is baffling to me.

:aicmon:

I dont think Smith is any better than Campbell, but the reason why is because hte 49ers went 13-3 last year.

If Smith got injured or the 49ers went 6-10, Smith would be a back up some where right now.

I think they could have done the same with Campbell.

Also, Smith has been usurped by Shaun Hill, Troy Smith and JT OSullivan and was still retained as the starter....so no, I'm not so sure the dude would be backing up if things went south last year.
