I'm pretty neutral on brother Umar. I want him to succeed and I even donated some money to his school but I don't like how childish he gets when someone ask a question. There are a lot of black charter schools that still must meet state requirements. They may have black teachers and run by black people but they are still teaching a European centric curriculum. Kind of like how a lot of HBCU's have a majority black faculty and black president but a lot of their financial backing comes from white people and in some cases they are part of the state's college system.

I think you should do some research before you post. Ron Clark Academy is a non profit school that has seen double digit increases in test scores under his guidance. His school spends twice as much $ per student than Georgia public schools. the students there have visited 6 continents. Most of their money comes from Corporate donors and his personal salary is $15k.

*And if you are inclined to research said topic you will see that he is very much into afrocentric studies. Students there have to undergo a 1k social studies test of which much of the curriculum is about black history.

I think for now Charter schools is the way to go for now imo. Start small and build by proving yourself.
Here in MN there's mad charter schools, from Somali, Liberian, Nigerian, even Spanish oriented schools.
I think it brings the sense of community associated with schools and parents that you can't get at a PWI.
And they're blowing the state averages out the water in terms of standardized test scores while on the other hand MN as a whole has the biggest disparity b/t white and minority students in terms of achievement
