kinda a shytty situation all around. ihop has to refund his money, or else he's just going to file a chargeback w/ his credit card company, and will most definitely win. ive actually never lost a chargeback on my own credit card....and i have to deal w/ chargebacks at my work sometimes and they are a bytch to prove.

at the restaurant level, after they refund his money they have to reconcile the register somehow, because now their credit card terminal will come up $198 short. only way they can do that is if she gives her tip back.

its lose/lose. the manager didnt wanna be short $198 or else they prolly woulda gotten fired...so they told ole girl to give the money back, or they would fire her.
