Yes, corny ass Logic's last album did better than Wale's last album. And he's from Maryland... which was a part of your criteria

Great for logic he's basically a really poor mans j cole from his skill set standpoint to a really dedicated fan base... :comeon:

Regardless of the sales (even though logics sales is mostly accumulated through streams) taan is a waaaaayyyyyy better project that just had a bad rollout & he waited to long to release it

This next album has a wierd rollout to & is bound to not sale many copies

All i care about is how dope it will be

The singles aren't bad at all fashion week is actually really dope imo, running back was cool & did debut in the top 100 not sure what the overall success of it is & pyt was actually a hit...

Summer on sunset was over looked but was a really dope project

He's been putting out lots of dope freestyles & loosies

Killed j cole on groundhogs day

And even had that little riff with that tommy laran chick because he mentioned her on 1 of his songs

Regardless he's still pretty popular & putting out good music so your argument about him not defining his style or lane is bullshyt

Its not music with wale its his public perception that overshadows his music

Plus honestly even though signing with mmg was a great move & put him on a another level just imagine him signed to good music or even ymcmb or even having a engine behind him like rocnation

I think he would be alot bigger just like big sean & cole

Mmg is a street rooted record label with a underground & underdog structure their not artcy like good music & pop friendly like ymcmb

I also think he's not happy with atlantic & is probably on his last album with them & is looking to sign to epic

@Versa is also just wrong. Dark Sky Paradise went platinum and produced two top 40 hits. It was way bigger than TAAN and I liked that album. But besides that. when you factor in how many more singles Sean has sold than Wale, it's very clear who is bigger. Let me put it like this, there's a reason J. Cole brought Sean on tour with him and not Wale.

Dark sky paradise isnt better than taan im not sure where this was ever established:comeon:

Dark sky paradise just had more hit records & was sean's best work to date that is all

Taan wasnt radio friendly & was for his back pack fans & the hip hop enthusiasts

Like i said before the rollout wasn't good & the singles were spead out months from each other & got old like the body

Alot of wale fans dont know what they want from homie some want him to do more go go, some want him to be more introspective & conscious, some wsnt him to do club & trap records & others love his songs for the ladies

a response like this leads me to believe you didnt read brehs post, or you did and realized you didnt know what else to say back, cuz breh wasnt arguing for logic at all, he was using him as an example:yeshrug:

but no shots tho, cuz tbh this has been one of the best MUSIC discussion threads on the booth in awhile, and its the kind of thread our 2x woat poster king wishes he could create.

for the most part everyone stayed on topic and contributed dope information :salute:

to keep it going, i rememebr him performing my PYT last july at wolftrap and i was thinking 'oh wale got a new album coming soon':ooh:

i do agree his album rollout process is kinda jacked

i just wonder if all this is because wale gives too much deference in listening to the people on his team, or too little?

or maybe that aint the issue at all

wale's career is an enigma wrapped in a puzzle, dipped in mumbo sauce

i do wish wale and tone p would lock down in the studio and just make rap-go-go bangers for like 6 months straight

and be in dc while they create, and soak up the vibe and properly present our wave to the masses

i know when i leave DC one of the things im going to miss most is pulling up to a red light and hearing go go crankin out of the car next to me :ahh:

I honestly think the machine has given up on Wale.

Wale.

He writes the songs. They aren't hits without his pen

Bad was Tiara Thomas's song. He heard it online, brought her in and basically featured her on her song.

True, I'm not doubting he penned the other songs, my point is... the songs are remembered because of the singers performance on the chorus. Not because of Wale verses. Let's keep it 100.

This clown @Ziggiy has me on ignore

Roscoe Dash wrote the Lotus Flower bomb hook.

Wale is not the draw for those songs at all like @GoldenGlove said.

I see @Ziggiy move the goalpost to lyrics when the whole concept of Bad wasn't created by Wale.

It's sad... but honestly, his biggest and probably most recognizable records are known because of the chorus and the singer's performance.

Lotus Flower Bomb - Miguel
Bad - Tiara Thomas
The Matrimony - Usher

These 3 specifically... but you can go even further and all of his hits have a great feature on the hook that make the song stick.
say issue jayceon has....

Fashion Week with 160K Youtube views in a week...
Black Spiderman with 1.2M Youtube views in a day...

:francis:

My man Wale went from Big Sean, Kendrick, Cole, and Drake's class to being less popular than Logic

Jesus :snoop:

It would serve him well to just shut up and let the music speak for himself.

This has been said multiple times in this thread but Wale cant make up his mind on what direction to take his music.

When he puts out a more conscious record like Black Gold and then puts out garbage like Fashion Week he stops himself from building a fanbase. He wants to be a super successful conscious dude like Kdot or Cole but also wants to be a crossover superstar like Drake yet hes afraid to go 100 on any fukking direction. He's the definition of a half stepper.

I'll put it like this. Look at Kendrick's music since Overly Dedicated as a seed he planted, hes been watering that plant ever since and has never neglected it. From OD to DAMN. He's kept on pushing in the same direction while managing to grow and improve as an artist. Not being melodramatic know social media helps too.

Meanwhile Wale was watering his plant for years but then neglected it and just keeps on planting different seeds that keep dying.

Personally, especially in this age of rabid music consumption it'll be hard for Wale to recover his buzz. Not to say hes not a successful dude who can sell records and will make money for a long time but any hopes of him breaking that mental barrier is probably long gone. He's had his chances.

I dont like Logic but he hasn't continously pandered his music to every demographic like Wale has and he'll probably double up Wale on first week sales.
