NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
J cole became a woke activist rapper right around the time this shyt became money
I mean think about it he was always ill and had success but he was trying to be a Jay z or BOB frankenstein monster as a rapper but when his content changed and became more militant and retrospective kinda like kendrick he reached a whole new audience and success.

Now Wale he makes the same type of music and never evolved no disrespect he's good too but the reason he's not seeing the transition like Cole is because Cole turned the corner as an artist.
Meek has the same problem too imo
Artists just can't reinvent themselves
Snoop is the King of that hence why his career has been so long
This ain’t really true. He always spoke on shyt and he was on the frontlines in them protest and wasn’t even trying to broadcast. Didn’t even want people taking pictures like that. From his early music u can tell his influences. shyt like “I Get Up” is Pac influenced rhymes over a Kanye influenced beat.

Light brights always trying to be the most militant. Overcompensating. He went from Hollywood Cole to this tortured artist who can't even be blthered to dress up for Obama. Dude is hilarious to me.
Go say that to brother Malcolm or Huey Newton. I hate this separation ass colorism shyt. Black people come in all shades u fukkin goofies.

Wale is the best in his class. People don't agree cause he doesn't have a machine and it seems his personality. But none in his class is near him.
He had a bigger machine then everyone but drake to start his career. He had the whole inter scope building behind him and flopped heavy.

this is corny of him and he really is envious of them

I dont have a problem with him reacting but i can see why ppl lashing out at him for HOW he reacting. But again...dont come for someone and trynto dictate how they react. Wale couldve just posted a pic of him out protesting or wait for a fan to check (which they did)
Or he coulda just not respond to that random nobody

If you listen to Wale when it comes to J.Cole he insinuates colorism plays a factor in their success and truth be told he does have a point.
he has no point.

Cole never rapped like or tried to be jay z. His first known song was lights please. He always was a nas/pac stan. nikka use to diss jay lowkey on songs and made a song called “let nas down”. Criticized jay for putting him a room with star gate to make a single.

after born sinner the labels knew he was money and gave him the ok to make the music he wanted, and he stripped all the bullshyt that was pushed on him and became who wanted to be. I remember his breakfast club interview and he was speaking his truth. Was a really dope interview

nah.

wale prolly still feels some type of way about cole throwing him under the bus in that song where cole was trying to pump-fake like his come-up was organic.

i dont blame wale.

lol.

i dont know if its because hes half-white tho.

i think hes just milking his gimmick. and i stress the word "gimmick" cuz bul dont really be rappin bout chit. he aint moving none of the real ones out here and he knows it.
How was Cole's come up inorganic? His status as a Roc Nation artist was never hidden.

I don't think so. I think they it was only 1 spot and that spot went to cole. Wale pen is in line with all of them Cole,Drake and Kendrick

Wale dropped his Ambition project the same year as Sideline Story, Section.80 and Take Care. He was doomed no matter what.

Houston, by way of Pittsburgh.

Man, if we're being real, Wale's buzz was bigger than ALL of them nikkas to start with. He led that hypebeast rapper wave that was starting to pop, and had Nike Boots blowing up. I specifically remember him having a couple mixtapes that were super popular back in like 07-08. Wale was really that dude then. Drake became who is he now shortly after that, then Cole and Kendrick made huge leaps in their careers, while guys like Cudi, Meek, Sean, ect all lapped him. All of those guys that I mentioned have all had individual moments in Hip Hop that were bigger than Wale's. So the bitterness is understandable, I guess, but what kills me is that he acts like he hasn't been successful at all. There were times where his music was stale but it was never garbage, and he can still drop hits here and there because black women love his music.

He refuses to accept that his twitter finger days played a huge part into why people don't fukk with him and see him as an unlikeable person. He just came off as a weird ass little brat at times, whining about every fukking thing. Here we are 10 years later, we ain't forget.
