Mac Dre. We all have different tastes in music so something that's GOAT to someone could be trash to someone else, one man's trash is another's man's treasure. Even an aspect of an artist that could be someone's favorite thing about their style and someone else will absolutely hate them for that or it might be their least favorite thing about them. Whenever I hear someone say "they don't like Mac Dre" I would be like "they must not know what they're talking about", "they're a corny simp", they obviously never heard a Mac Dre song" . . but then I began to realize that our whole standards of what we like are entirely different and it's interesting to hear a playlist or the musical perspective from someone who has the complete opposite taste in music. Let's do this so we can understand what we like most out of the various styles of rap

Listen to this verse, do your best to disregard the music and the chorus, just the verse and tell me if you're entertained. For me this is as perfect as a verse can be -

Just a fun Mack dre verse.
His mic presence was not the best and neither was his technical skills but he made up for it with fun content.

I know we're all individuals but I'm wondering how someone's mind can be attracted to a whole different sound. This highlights what I'm saying. I guess when people say perspective is everything in determining the way you perceive reality to be. To me his delivery would be the epitome of mic presence. The character. The entertainment value. And Mac Dre is my standard of excellence in that regard. If I heard KRS-One (you seem to be a big fan) and compared him to Mac Dre than it wouldn't even be close how much I prefer Mac Dre's mic presence, Mac Dre has character. His delivery is genius to me and I'd imagine I'm not the only one drawn to his music because of how entertaining he is overall, with the character in his delivery and the wit in the things he says.

When you think about it Mac Dre is like a real life Homer Simpson in the sense that he's essentially a grown child as far as his code of conduct. The man was 34 years old. His career spanned 15 years and his output is GOAT level. You have to remember that there's 3 distinct evolutions in Mac Dre's. Obviously I can't convince you to like him and that's not what I'm trying to do but we have to the root to how some people can have someone as a GOAT that someone else wouldn't put in their top ten. For those people it's never going to matter how much you show them because it's not their cup of tea.The type of imagination he has :wow:

If you've given him sufficient amount of tries and you can't get into it then . . we have completely different tastes in what we out of our music. There has to be a scientific explanation, perhaps we interpret music in different parts of our brain or we're genetically predisposed to like certain things.

i don't know if there has to be a scientific explanation but i'm sure given all the album she put out there's probably one i would like but I'm not about to go listen to 100 albums to find out lol is there something that has a bunch of stuff like Not My Job? not necessarily that subject matter but that whole vibe, the beats and all that

Not quite, that song is a one-off but through his catalog there's a lot of songs that are anomaly one-off, non-linear in the vibe department, ideally he would've been able to expand upon the styles he was creating in future works but if you listen to some of the newer verses that came out he is unquestionably way ahead of his time. His style stands out rather than fits in and that makes his appeal that much more special. You can be great at being normal but the second you excel something that is a unique creation and you are the proprietor of something, there's no guarantee that people will like it especially since they have no standard to compare it to. There's not many taste makers in the world

It use to be when someone was a knockoff they'd be relegated to a lower tier of respect but nowadays it's really all about fitting out and studies corporate radio has deemed that the average music listener is more likely to stay tuned into something with familiarity. Something that stands out is going to cause irregular brain patterns and that could lead to thought activity which means the person is no longer in a pacified state and has a higher chance of changing the channel. What we have today is rappers that want to fit in rather then stand out

A lot of people talk down on @SirBiatch but he hit the nail on the head as far as evaluating music in the order of good experimental>good conventional>bad conventional>bad experimentation

So in making experimentation in itself carries a hIgh risk/high rewards situation. I might love it, if I do love it and it's original you are the proprietor of a new sound. The sound could influence an era, it could influence a region. If it's bad experimentation it's going to be especially distasteful because not only do you dislike the song but it doesn't even fall within conventional range of what you're use to evaluating, so now you have a bad song and there's no standard to compare it to

The rappers that are making it are taking the safe route

What we have is a new era that's been developing over the last 10 years and it's roots are in the influence of Lil Wayne and Soulja Boy . . ya, we all love Nas and Jay but there's no young artists today entering the mainstream that are exhibiting any influence to those guys. Gucci Mane explained it perfectly when he said that someone trying to get in the rap game will have an easier time rapping like Gucci Mane than rapping like Eminem. Which means this generation has no focus or premium on "being the best" it was easier to just fall back on the easier route that doesn't require as much attention to your craft or a need to build skills, the path with less scrutiny. There's always less scrutiny in settling for mediocrity

If you don't like 2 Chainz you probably won't like Mac Dre as there appeals are very similar stylistically

This comes from the fact people have no actual culture to hip hop and the link between hip hop as a culture and rap as a business was severed.
It has nuffin to do with preference.
The rap listener of today was given a false security and ideal of what high quality rap is.
Where they don't know culture to hip hop and don't know how to properly judge.
what is actually quality and what is not.
This started back in the prison industrial complex.
as an actual plan and science based on a number of factors of creating and manufacturing widespread ignorance to make a profit off of.
This Gen was not taught what wack was.
They were taught wackness along with any other Gen.
where the gateway to rap purposefully was made.
so the consumer never developed a cultural awareness.
Which in hip hop is actually evil and also limits the historical and factual ideals culturally.
that create the gateway to knowledge of self.
It has nuffin to do with preference.
It has more to do with the propaganda to keep people from being cultured.
Which is completely and totally wrong and a direct component of slavery as well.

The effect of what they are doing is basically similar to.
not showing you how to read indepthly or even communicate accurately.

You like mac dre because most people out west were given a gateway.
with no cultural identity that also was backed with Mecca envy.
Most people marketed rap based on west coast gateway ideals.
exhibit the condition that rolling stones and writers of the rock roll ilk wanted to have widespread. To attack an artist like krs and create propaganda.
Which would result in the gateway consumer never being educated fully.
or gaining culture and knowledge of self components as a gateway.
That has been a purposeful plan and has nuffin to do with you thinking you have some diverse ear.
In many aspects your ear is underdeveloped as well as penchant to digest content.
Which comes directly from the prison industrial complex.
they marketed widespread in rap as a full blown science and marketing ploy in 92. Then as a complete full market wide practice after assimilation in 2005. Where the mass marketing of the prison industrial complex and earlier drawing components marketed as positive revenue grab and raid tactics were stripped away..evident by the lack of draw generated by Gucci maybe.
while fitting into the previous model of success the prison industrial complex supplied starting in 93. Then becoming an actual marketing tool in 96.

That then escalated to include and strip away the culture of hip hop completely away from rap.

It has nuffin to do with your ear.

Art Barr

Get educated, gain knowledge of self and stop being demonstrative about the culture of hip hop.
When hip hop singlehandidly brought you any and everything you do.
This is not my parents Gen where none of this shyt existed at all.
This is our Gen where we created all this shyt.
The disrespect to hip hop continues because of lack of culture by the consumer.
Yet the consumer wants to play dress up and be a cultural figure.
When that won't happen when you don't assimilate to the culture.

A lot of people are stupid and threatened by something new. hence their hate of anything different and especially of SirBiatch :salute:

I agree with your overall sentiment and especially the first sentence. It's weird to me seeing obvious knockoffs getting praise, especially from so-called hip hop heads who should know better.

In this era, as Art Barr explained earlier hip-hop being your choice of music doesn't necessarily mean you subscribe to hip-hop culture in anyway but that's inevitable to happen to any genre eventually as it grows and takes root into the mainstream
