It’s widely known that the Howard community and the local D.C community don’t get along at all (You see robberies at homecoming) but this is absolutely ridiculous.

There needs to be more security on that campus because those H.U kids are our future lawyers, Politicans, Doctors, Psychologists, Business leaders and government workers.

I was in DC for Hampton v Howard football game. Afterparty was at Love nightclub.

Me and boys go to the infamous McDonald's on Georgia Ave.

We talking to these 3 bad chicks from Howard. We get the numbers.

We about to leave and these 3 busted local chicks come in. One was pregnant and they start getting into it with the Howard girls. Security break it up and kick the locals out.

We go back to check on the Howard chicks they mad but they aiight so we like we see y'all at the club.

We walking to the car and them local chicks waiting outside by the trunk with a sawed off shotgun waiting for them chicks.

We got in the car and I text the girl don't go out back they strapped waiting.

this is hilarious because there is a rec center literally across the street from Howard that stays empty



also for whoever said why don’t Howard women go after the campus men. They do, it’s just that for every 17 women there is 1 man and they still all go after the same athletes and greeks. There is a saying on campus: “where is my Howard husband” or “I’m looking for my Howard husband”.

I always joke back he’s sitting behind you in your Physics lecture.

Howard University is an "open campus" so that comes with these types of problems (students being physically attacked and assaulted) and having white people walked their dogs and defecate on campus. When HU decides to erect walls around its campus and off campus housing, ppl are going to be upset because it is "reinforcing the divide between the school and the community." These measures are necessary and the former being the more serious reason of putting walls up to protect your student body. If you ain't got a student ID or not affiliated with the university, you do not get in period.

This type of behavior is purely unacceptable and miss me with the sociology low socio-economic status arguments rampant on this board to excuse any type of bad behavior.

You cannot have a bunch of ppl attack, physically assault and stab other ppl let alone students whose purpose is to attain an education on the road to self development and bettering themselves personally and acquiring skills for the labor market through education. That's wild as hell that Black students have to deal with that kind of negative force in a Black institution where it is supposed to be a "safe space".

Imagine being a parent and having to pick up the phone and learn that your son or daughter died because some local hoodlums decided to stump him or her out to death or stab him/her because of some ritual "fight club" and totally unprovoked by their victims. Some trivial ass reason to get hurt or die.

This is reprehensible.

Grand Canyon University in Phoenix is like that. It's located in a rougher area but they gate that whole campus off. They know that the white parents aren't going to send their kids to that school if they feel like they won't be safe.

There’s some beef. DC natives think the students are arrogant, stuck up rich kids. Howard students think the natives are broke townies. But at the same time they all still party together at the clubs, the city proudly supports the school, everyone comes to homecoming, and all these cats try to push up on the college girls. It’s interesting to me though because I would imagine if the DC natives should hate anyone right now, it should be all the cacs that are gentifrying the area around Howard. Not the Carlton’s and Hilary’s walking around campus.

Definitely the vibes up there when I visited my cousin some years back. But that's how alot of places are set up you'd even see it in the military. The locals hated the out of town males and it was vice versa with the females. You came in and were competition for the men and women so of course there's going to be tension.

This is pretty characteristic of most HBCUs. There is typically static between the HBCU and the locals from the surrounding community.

Remember, there was even a depiction of it in School Daze.

I mean, if you been in the city or around DC long enough, you know ALL about them Towers. That’s the hood over there. Wasn’t they complaining about mold and mildew in them towers? Rodent problems all kinda ish.

I used to play summer baseball at Banneker Field. Again, very akin to the projects lol at least back then

Lots of local nikkas are basically crabs. It ain’t even about looking down on someone it’s just common fukking sense.

If I’m a woman and I’m in class every day with men that are future lawyers, doctors, engineers, etc….. who have a stable background with lots of resources why the fukk am I going to ignore that to legit mess with a local hood nikka? Because you can play basketball and hang out all day? If you 18-22 why are you out here on the block instead of somewhere making moves for your future?

It’s also wild that the same kid gets looked at differently dependent upon the school. A black kid at Howard on student loans is looked at as some rich spoiled kid, that same kid is seen as a poor student loan minority at a PWI.

That's the curse and poor mindset that exists in our community. It has to change because at this point we're on a slow treadmill to nowhere.

Interesting distinction, seems that that cac’s call them townies but brehs call them locals? Or is this more based the location of the school city vs suburbs.

Both schools I attended had a large local presence.
