Was 2013 the worst Jay Z year since Ether in 2001?

OP has a point. This is the first time that Jay has seeme detached and out of touch. Plus the album was trash.

The signs are there for this being the start of the ending. But it's Hov, so the next album could be classic?

Breh, Jay's been detached and out of touch since like Blueprint 2. He came back a little on AG. Jay is still my #1 of all time, but at this point he's a little too rich for me to understand what's he going through.

I'd need at least 15 more certs before I can relate to a Jay-Z album again.

Who the fukk cares about what white people notice :what:
That's not the point. The point is that Jay losing touch is a gradual process - and its gotta be pretty egregious for white people to take notice that Jay is out of touch and for mainstream culture to start taking shots at him.

No way in hell.

People like to say the album is horrible, and it was lacking a bit even coming from someone who enjoyed it, but the year overall was lacking. It's still one of the better albums out of a gang of real average shyt, and it sold well. If it's a PR thing then he's having one of his best, even with the criticisms.

One of the main pitfalls of MCHG is that he didn't have much to talk about, it was almost like mood music, like he just kinda blurted out his current feelings and ideas. As you can see Jay is extremely reactive to whatever media attention he gets and will most certainly speak on all of this. If his content shifted into what he was doing/saying on that new Ross song, I could see him coming with a heater.

his wife singing about him busting loads on her, I think he had a good year :smugbiden:

Yea you can't leave that out.

To me its his worst album. Not a single great verse. And a bunch of wack trap beats.

I really hated the intro/title track, FUTW and somewhereinamerica never get spins either.

Everything else was decent to good, Loved nickles and dimes, La Familia...it wasn't that much bad material, it's just that the quality overall never had a high peak.

I'd definitely take it over BP3 (it had better stand outs though)
