Bruh When I Was A Kid I Heard About Groups Being Talked About As Legends And I Had No Idea Who They Were Come To Find Out I Been Hearing Their Music For Years On Tv Shows, Commercials, Movies, Cover Songs, etc.. Without Even Knowing It, They Had An Impact That Moved The World/Country

Who Is Keeping Dru Hills Music Alive? It Was Good For The Time But Dont Nobody Care About Them That Hard They Ain’t Legends

Their Biggiest Pop Comes When Someone Tosses Their shyt On At A House Party Or A BBQ lol

They Bring Out Dru Hill At The Grammys Half The Audience Gonna Be Lost The Other Half Gonna Say “Is That The Thong Song Guy!? :whoo:

None of that stuff you mentioning means anything as far the actual groups talent and quality of music. Them having covers may be a contractual thing also. Again nothing to do with music. You think they gone give it up at the Grammys for 112 and Jagged Edge? Stop it. And why would the Grammys be a measuring stick for music when they barely recognize Black music. And when they do they do it wrong. They literally didn’t acknowledge one of our biggest stars in Will Smith. But that’s the example we using?

I really can tell u not really plugged in to black life like that cause the examples u using on some other shyt. We talking about life. Don’t down play a bbq or party. Those are the moments that make music memorable. You invite somebody over for the link up and play Beauty shyt might go ya way lol. Then you play it and your kids get put on. That’s how music is kept alive.

Yeah we know dru-hill never hit the mainstream like that... but IMO they are the last of legendary R&B groups we had out there...:manny: I can say that in a few years their music will probably get into a spotlight again... much like vintage R&B music gets remade and sampled now Earth wind and fire, the ojays, the dells it comes in cycles...

The thread is asking whether they are below average. Voice wise Sisqó and jazz can sing with anybody, music wise they can hold they own. We not asking if they superstars.

You the one that brought up the Grammys and because you see it on covers being criteria. Which means what when something like that can be held up by some random exec saying. “Nah I don’t like Tory lanes so no he can’t cover it” or these random panels who are severly challenged when it comes to black music. That’s a fact! They didn’t wanna even televise Will smith winning a Grammy. Nas doesn’t have a Grammy but Cardi b does..... but Again that’s your king????

Then you discounted bbqs and parties as if that’s not how music isn’t made memorable. R&b is soul music shyt like memories at a bbq is where that shyt hits at. Like I said I knew you were outside the culture when you said that. And that’s cool but this ain’t ya lane lol

At their height, they had like two successful albums. Then Sisqo went solo as a major success with one album. They came back together in 2002 with a new album and a new member, but it was nowhere near as eventful as the first two albums or Sisqo's solo. They even had a reality show leading up to their fourth album, which was independent.

In the grand scheme of things, they just weren't what Boyz II Men, Jodeci, 112, or Jagged Edge were in terms of groups. These groups had at least 3 hit albums while Dru Hill struggled after the second album. Even with Sisqo's massive first album, he wasn't able to sustain success as a solo artist.

dru hill was bigger than 112 & jagged edge. just because those groups stayed together, it doesn't mean they had a bigger run.
btw, jagged edge was my favorites from that era but they didn't really start getting their props until dru hill was out of the way.
112??? STOP IT. all due respect to 112, but without puffy, they would've been Ladae.

not really a fair comparison to BIIM & jodeci. different eras and those groups benefit from nostalgia. I could easily poke the same holes in those two groups.
you can say that boyz ii men was pretty much done after 2 albums.
and don't get me started on jodeci who never dropped a great tape. the most glorified singles group in modern-day black music history.

Y’all got Dru Hill fukked up. Y’all saying “ they were no boys II men” well yea lol nikka who is

Below average is them groups like ruff ends or profyle or whatever they names were. They got 2 good albums and sisqo and nokio stood on their own and did they’re own lil thing. That’s not below average lol

Thank you.

You could bump all Dru Hill albums (and Sisqo first joint) top to bottom.
Jodeci only got one album like that, and those K-Ci & JoJo albums are a crime.
Dru Hill can go hit for hit with any group from the 90s.
I can't believe somebody put 112 up there with them. Yuck.

Sidebar: you right...I would watch an Unsung on Profyle. Tell you who else needs one:

Dru Hill being bigger than Jagged Edge and 112 isn't the point. The point is they didn't impact beyond the 90's which affects their legacy in a major way. Staying together longer wasn't even the point because Jagged Edge was bigger on the '00's than they were in the 90's. 112 still had joints in the '00's. Dru Hill never really broke up. They dropped solo joints and lost one member, but still remained a group. They just didn't have much of anything that resonated beyond their first two albums and Sisqo's solo debut. I mean, many wouldn't believe that Sisqo was bigger than Usher at one point. Why? It's like Sisqo's debut is forgotten.

The Dru Hill disrespect is appalling :hhh:......

It may be appalling, but not surprising. Sisqo was a punchline in diss records and even had Cedric The Entertainer dismissing "The Thong Song" on Kings of Comedy. Other comedians were as well.
