Was it cultural appropriation when Gwen Stefani and Fergie recorded rap/r&b music?

The whole cultural appropriation concept goes to ridiculous lengths.

Everything in western culture is lifted. Might as well give up right now. This is the effect of globalization. No one group has a patent on anime, pinatas or dreadlocks.

If someone stole a song, they're a thief. If somebody is influenced by other cultures that is the era we live in. Its arbitrary to say that the cut off point for cultural exchange should have happened at any given point in history. Plus its impossible to stop it.

Gwen got some classics :yeshrug:
I never cared for Fergie

The cultural appropriation argument is funny cause people will use it for artists they don’t like and let the ones they like slide. I don’t care honestly

EDIT: People love going back to bring up artists and cultural appreciation when sone of the biggest offenders are out now.
