Kobe was never the consensus best player in the league. :mjlol:

Among players he was

Among stat nerds on the internet and goofy white sportswriters who wore pocket protectors and got stuffed in lockers in high school, no he wasn't.

At the end of the day, Players just play the game. The fat nerds who sit on their couch doing formulas and algorithms....those are the dudes who REALLY know the game

He missed 20% of the season and didn’t even get to the playoffs for 2005. He had no claim to that award at all that season. In 2006 Nash led a team whose best players after him were Shawn Marion and Boris Diaw to 54 wins and the western finals. Nash was the right choice then too.

I would say so too but at the time the only guys who got MVP's were on teams that had a top 3 record in the NBA. Westbrook was the first guy in a while to break that. I think Kobe's damaged/recovering reputation from the rape case + Suns having a top record in the league is why Nash got both those MVP's instead of Mamba. Maybe if the Lakers had a 3rd or 4th seed in 2006 they would've gave it to Kobe.

How can wade be the best player during that time when he did not finish in the top 5 mvp voting?

He wasn't. He was amazing though and was the 2nd best player that season.....and obviously had more team success than Kobe. He should've finished in the top 3 in voting probably.

If you’re taking 27 shots and 10 free throws a night, you’d better average at least 35. It’s been well established that by the mid 2000’s that he really shouldn’t have been getting his all defensive team nominations either.
Well established by who?..and averaging 35 a game hasnt been accomplished since. We all saw when bron played 06 kobe ball..32 FGa per game, 39% from the field. And thats in 6 games, imagine trying to sustain that for 82 gaames and shooting 45%. And tell me how its not impressive again.

I believe he was the best but there was no consensus #1 remember how your team did was a HUGE factor It wasn't about 1 individual player (except lebron:mjlol:)

There was Duncan who while Kobe was getting 1st and 2nd round exits with the Lakers won 2 more titles

Steve Nash and his 2 MVPs and Mid 2000's Suns teams

Dirk with his MVP and Finals Appearance

Lebron and his Finals Appearance

DWade with his Ring

Kobe put up great stats but Shaq had won another ring, he was coming off the rape scandel and he couldn't even get to the western conference finals.

Also that KG was seen to have the worst situation of a superstar during that time l

:yeshrug: Kobe wasn't seen as better than any of those guys he was on the tier with them but that was it

In the Finals against the best defense in the league who has the time to sit down and game plan for you and just you every night for a week or so as opposed to random shytty squads comin off back to backs, 3 in 4 nights who don't have time to game plan for you.

You Kobe stans are pitiful
