He is better than a huge proportion of the commercial pill popping mumble rappers today.
The albums with Timberland also hold up very well.

Magoo had his moments, but if you're getting outshines by Timbaland's lyrics on a song, that answers the question. Still, I don't think Magoo took himself too seriously on the mic. He even said he wouldn't make an album without Timbaland. I don't know what happened on "Party People", but his verse was crazy. He also shined on "Deep In Your Memory".
