Old thread, but ODB actually got robbed and shot in '98 and it was probably by Maino's crew as it occurred in Brooklyn. I can't remember what they were after, I think it was his car, but Inspectah Deck actually touched on this in an interview he did back in '98 with Quincy Jones Vibe magazine shortly afterwards.
