So in conclusion, there were some on both sides of the spectrums; however, there was a lot of gray area. That's just my opinion.

Fair enough, but let me ask you this...

If you have black entertainers that don't cater to whites, but become popular amongst whites - why do some automatically designate them cuun status?

Case in point: someone mentioned Dave Chappelle in here...

Those who say that don't know what a c00n is then...by my definition, if the entertainer becomes popular among whites but does not cater to them, how can he be c00ning? He cannot control their perspective. Cosby was LOVED by whites, but everybody loves to point out that he refused to c00n. Chappelle never c00ned. He was a satirist, which some people don;t understand. popularity with whites has nothing to do with "c00ning" its all about the behavior, personality, and overall presence of a black American and how they portray their black experience. That's why I hate when that word is used because nobody wants to really break it down and give it definition.

I agree with all this...people take that word and run with it, like a lot of words they use today where they don't know the origin...

If we're being fair, it's a fine line entertainers have to walk. You want to have some integrity, but if you aren't depicted real life you'll be chastised as well.

No it wasn't c00ning, because he wasn't always in a dress. He had a bunch of characters like white bob,and that shyt was funny. I don't think it was c00ning because he wasn't making fun of black women, just playing a character.

Now BIg Momma's house on the other hand.:patrice:

I don't know brehs, sitcoms back then, you didn't really think about the nikkas job etc.:manny:
