He was stupid. He wasn't intentionally trying to get him killed. He was just greedy and jealous. He wasn't trying to kill Michael or anything like that..or fukk over his nephew.

The fact that Fredo had showed twice that he would side against the family (first time with Moe Green, and second with Hyman Roth) and that he could be swayed to act against the family.

I personally think that he would not have been killed if he didn't have that outburst in the boathouse about being passed over; that showed Michael that he *resented* him for being the Don, and THAT meant that Fredo could never be trusted.

It evens out. it's still to me how quiet lil Mike ended up spiraling down that far

at killin Fredo tho even on my worst day I couldn't make that call exile the nikka if you got to but Jesus don't kill him

The fact that he had to wait until their mother died tells you everything. Vito, hell not even Sonny, woulda done that. If Sonny saw that Mike would've caught that heaven & hell beatdown.

Michael is just so cold, the older I get the more I appreciate Pacino'(and relate to him Brando/Deniro)s performance - truly the greatest role he has ever played (Part I & II more than III).

I don't think anybody has brought up what to me was just the most gangster thing he did, is when he brought Pentangeli's brother to that court case. In front of all them lawyers, judges, cops, cameras etc. Pentangeli literally went from .

And Mike was all the way, ironic that he used somebody's brother to set him straight considering how the movie ends.

And then he sent Tom Hagen to talk dude into offing himself
