Actually, the Bulls won 55 games after MJ retired and they were within a horrible call by Hue Hollins of going back to the NBA finals

If any other GOAT candidate retired and his team won two fewer games, people would constantly point to that

that was the eastern conference semi finals if I recall correctly :patrice:

Kareem drops 40 on Bill Walton in the 1977 WCF

His performance was so captivating that Brent Musburger forgot all about creeping on random hoes in the crowd :wow:

The white media at the time hated Kareem, and as you'd imagine, Walton emerged as a media favorite in a league that was increasingly seen as "too black". Kareem carried a talent-starved team to the best record in the league. The Blazers were a talented young team that was coming of age in a hurry. In addition to Walton, they had Maurice Lucas, Lionel Hollins and Bobby Gross. (They would go on to win the 1977 championship against Dr. J's 76ers, and they started the next season 50-8 before Walton went down with an injury. In other words, history shows they were a powerhouse.) In the 1977 WCF, the Lakers were missing their second and third best players (Kermit Washington and Lucius Allen. The Lakers were simply outmanned and got swept 4-0. Kareem completely outplayed Walton, outscoring him by an average of 11 ppg, as well as grabbing more rebounds, blocking more shots, and shooting 60% from the field. But because the Blazers won, the media narrative became that Walton outplayed Kareem. To this day, the Bill Simmons' of the world will swear that Walton "owned" Kareem. Walton himself will tell you how far that is from the truth. But this helps illustrate how Kareem became so underrated. He was despised by the media, who went to great lengths to minimize him and elevate his opponents.

When will you fools realize NOBODY is on Mike's level. He's done too many things that no one else has ever done (except wilt) and he's undefeated in the finals in one of the most competitive eras in the league's history.

The way other players of his time reacted to him, he was like the Michael Jackson of basketball. He obviously commanded that respect/fear for a reason.

These comparisons are straight clownish.

And again Kareem's cumulative career totals pale in comparison to MJ's averages.

This isn't even close. Just stop :mjlol:

You can make the argument Kareem is the GOAT. I won't argue it, but I think you can. One of the most dominant big men ever both ways, should probably have another ring - 74 Finals - Great playmaker and centerpiece of an offense and a great rim protector and post body - Only Moses really dominated him. Also one of the first great players to extend his basketball career into his 40's.

G.O.A.T..... meaning GREATEST OF ALL TIME.. But you can o my be the GOAT of the generation you played in....:gucci:

Say there is no ALL TIME GOAT when "ALL TIME" is in the term GOAT brehs :snoop:

The Coli has ruined the word GOAT for me with this "one of the GOATs" talk... nah nikkas GOAT is singular... there can only be one.... if you cant pick one GOAT then dont use the acronym...

if you want to categorize and call Lew Alcindor the GOAT center ok. Jordan the GOAT SG... ok but there can only be one GOAT NBA player... so pick ONE. fukk thus one of the GOATS shyt:pacspit:

"He won on every level!"

Dudes love to say that. What was he winning in the 70s? Same people shytting on jordan for not getting pass bird and the celtics, zeke and the pistons, dynastic or borderline dynastic teams, dont say shyt about kareem's failures in the 70s. What dominant, all time teams was he going against? Dude wasnt doing shyt without oscar or magic. Should've dominated the 70s. fukking bullets, sonics, blazers, warriors, all time losers winning rings under his watch. Werent no flash in the pan, scrub teams winning rings during Jordan's reign.

kareem is the 2nd best basketball player ever so it's close. What hurts cap is magic coming to his team and cap having a reduced role later in his career while MJ was the best player on his team always
do you realize how old kareem was at that point?

lol.

the only reason people say Jordan is because his game looked prettier since he was a 6'6 guard vs a 7foot+ skinny big dude.

remember they changed the rules on dude. anytime they change the rules. you already know you're a one of a kind player.

:mjlol: 1991-98 was one of the least competitive eras in league history. The rest of the east sucked and the western conference champion was always clearly food for the bulls. If it were competitive, then they would have met another team that was actually great on multiple occasions and lost to them at some point. The showtime lakers, the bad boys, Bird's Celtics, and Julius Erving and the 76ers all faced each other multiple times in the playoffs and won titles at the expense of each other. At the end of that era, the bulls and pistons met 4 years straight in the playoffs, with Detroit winning three times before the bulls eventually dethroned them. The Shaq and Kobe Lakers met Tim Duncan and the spurs 5 times between the 1999-2004 playoffs, with it going just 3-2 in the lakers favor. The KG/Pierce/Allen Celtics faced the lakers twice, with each team winning a title. The heat faced the spurs twice with each team winning a title. The cavaliers and warriors have both clinched a title on the other team's floor. That's what competition looks like. If your opponents are great and you face them multiple times in the playoffs while each team is near or at it's apex, history shows that neither team will come out with an unblemished record.
