Like Moonlight was better received, but how much of that was people patting themselves on the back for liking a gay black film? Plus you have BOTN's controversy and no white saviour/Brad Pitt, putting it closer as 'toxic'.

Then again, you got people saying it is one of the best movies of the 21st century, possibly of all time :patrice:

Both were good movies directed by brothers and I saw both and paid for both and will redbox both.

I liked em equally. I did have problems with both tho. Wanted to see more white folks dying in BON. And wanted a better ending to moonlight and more of a plot.

Fences tho:myman:

Poverty porn is films of black struggle where non blacks arent inflicting it so non blacks and watch it for entertainment purposes and not feel guilty and it subliminally gives them a savior complez because they want to save the protaginist from the "evil black antagonist".

The movies have no plot or anything its just tossing as much struggle as you can into a flick. Precious is a good example of this.

Ive seen both recently and this is a bad comparison since the movies are about two totally different subjects that affect black people. BOTN might be one of the greatest movies ever made. Its fukked up how horrible the movie did in theaters thanks to bitter feminists and cacs. I do understand where you guys are coming from in regards to a movie about a gay black man being praised and how the media is afraid of black male masculinity. I get it brehs but Moonlight was more than that...i think alot of black men should watch it. It goes into great detail about how black men are raised to not show emotion, compassion and being comfortable with being themselves especially during the early years in life. The gay shyt was at a minimum btw. The movie was beautifully made.

Im not trying to push the gay agenda at all :whoa:
