Was Pau Gasol even a top 15 player in 2009 and 2010?

The anger was that the Lakers were back as a result of that. Trades dont shut down servers unless its tilted power.

Niqqas were MAD because EVERYONE KNEW the Lakers were going to the ship. You were in that thread yelling ship your damn self.

What do you mean "the Lakers were back as a result of that"? The Lakers were already in 1st damn place before Bynum went down in Memphis.

People were mad because we essentially got Pau Gasol for nothing. We didn't have to give up Odom. We didn't have to give up Bynum. And the trade came almost 2 weeks before the trade deadline, so other teams really never got a chance to get into a bidding war. It came out of nowhere.

So our second best player, who isn't an all-star, goes down, and we trade for an actual all-star, and give up nothing of significance... Yeah, you're gotdamned right we talked shyt.

But that doesn't mean that Pau was seen as elite. He was not.

Pau Gasol was seen as a low level all-star. Offensively skilled, but ultimately his softness was seen as a huge knock on him.

Point blank, the anger tied to getting Pau for crumbs meant a ship, and it angered folks and got Lakers fans to talking shyt. We all knew it meant a ship was in reach. Thats why it overwhelmed the board

We're in agreement that the anger stemmed from getting an all-star for nothing.. But that's not what you said initially.

There was outright anger and jealousy because everyone knew the Lakers got an elite big man to take em over the top.

This is what I disagreed with, because Pau was not considered an elite big man.

my point is a bridge to somewhere. Everyone knew that trade for change meant a ship. Especially when they kept Bynum. Saying they were simply mad at the trade and the trade itself is simply untrue.

Pau was borderline trash before he teamed up with Kobe. He had never even won a playoff game..

Bron played with 5 players better than him in his career.

I agree with both sides

but Pau wasnt top 15 to me

Kobe made him better :yeshrug: he worked hard and never gave up
one of the only big men I saw consistently keep the ball up on boards, and rise straight back up.

Pairing him with Bynum was a cold combo for both

That locked in play where he dunked on Garnett was amazing in the finals and solidified him

But yall wont ever give Kobe or him credit for boosting eachother, Pau bought in harder than anyone he was paired with

Lakers were in first but they weren't winning two of the next three championships with Brittle Bynum or Odom as their #2. They knew more about these guys than anyone else, which is why they traded for Pau...

He was better than yall are giving him credit for. Call him Top 20 instead of Top 15 if you want. I never told anyone he was some powerhouse, but he wasn't just some random role player yall picked up on the way to a ring...

brehs here legit mking up stories and lying to themselves about Pau pre Lakers day. It must burn knowing Klove on Minn was rated and thought off higher than Pau ever was on Memphis.

We can discuss how Kobe made Pau a Hall of famer while someone else made Hall of Famers into role players :sas2:

Pau was never a role player in his early career, and I don't think anyone said Kobe didn't elevate Pau. That's Kobe guys reaching to make people think that's what people are saying, and yall falling for the banana in the tailpipe....

Pau was a #1 who led his team to the playoffs three times in 6 years in the more competitive conference. Kevin Love led his team to the playoffs zero times in 6 years in the more competitive conference. Kevin Love was also a Top 15-ish player when he went to Cleveland, and he, just like Bosh today, there is a lot of revisionist shyt inflating Love as better than he ever actually was...

Love was a great player too but all of these guys Pau/Bosh/Love, were more or less on the same level before joining superstar teammates. Any attempt to draw any of these dudes as significantly better than the other is clear bias. We all know the game is more than stat padding, Love was more statistically dominant than either but didn't make the playoffs one time, don't tell me he was better than Pau...

All of these guys were big fishes in small ponds and were never gonna be guys who could be the best players on perennial contenders, so they had to leave their situations as #1's to play alongside better players...
