was there ever a darker era in rap than when jim jones was on every remix?

At one point it seemed like Jim was running behind Lil Flip & them Houston nikkas more than he was with Cam.

He used to ride that sizzurp/crunk wave so hard, but fronted on ASAP and them like they weren't real Harlem nikkas for doing the same shyt he been doing for years.

he pioneered the art of repeating the last few words of a bar, or explaining what he meant, in a slightly louder voice

"we ride drop top porsches and phantoms (THE TOP IS OFF!)
tryna duck the law cuz they stay with the cameras (THE FEDS GOT CAMERAS!!)" :ohhh:

he was basically his own rapgenius annotating his songs while recording them :wow:

U explained it very well

Uncle murda is doin the same too

Take this rep

Jim Jones was the French Montana of that era ironically

Not good rappers but really good discographies
Jim > French...matter of fact it should be a couple >>>. I can see the comparison though.
You were legit 6 or 7 years old during this time period man what in the fukk are you talking about ??
After "We Fly High" he WAS hotter than Cam though...

Thats like saying Desiigner was hotter (:dame:) than Future because Panda was bigger than any song Future had at the time

Just when i thought I've heard every version of Swang, i find a new one...

:dwillhuh:

Ive never heard this remix of Swang. Ive hesrd thid instrumental used for s completely different remix of Swang....

There's a trillion Swang remixes it seems. That's my fave song from that Era.

Either way, your point stands. The 00's weird. I bet there are even some hidden remixes to some pop-punk tracks from the mid-00's that feature Jim Jones.

:mjlol:
Literally one of my favorite songs ever is Swang and I've never heard that version

My Pops Forever RIP
Let's not forget that One eyed willie opened up that One Blood remix

Jimmy was like 2 hits away from being a SUPERSTAR but it all went sour for him.

He had everything in place at once.

Dude was coming off the biggest record of his career.

He had become somewhat of a fashion icon.

He had a record label executive job.

He had Max AND Stacks, he was going to keep sharking their shyt so he could blow himself up first.

He had Mel Matrix, Ra Murder and them holding him down on the streets.

And looking at all these remixes, he was well respected in different regions.

He was plugged in with Ron Brownz & Webstar, right when it looked like they might be able to do something.

Plus Cam fell back, putting ALL the attention on Jimmy. But it all fell apart, and he tried to put this BS out as his first single

I liked that song as well as Precious and Rain, but that's the last time I ever looked at an album cover and thought it would be indicative of how the album would turn out

lol you know I don't recall seeing this cover before in my lifetime?
I'd have assumed the cover was bright lights, black shades and rhinestone belts.
Yeah, if there was any correlation between an album and it's content, I would have copped it too.

Designer has sunken into the Earth's core like we all thought he would. Jim had that hit then stayed relatively hot till about 09/10, one of his albums not doing well (Pray IV Reign?) did him in commercially. I wasn't that into Cam or Dipset despite a lot of people around me being into them, so if you're saying Cam was quality while Jim was quantity, I'm not able to argue otherwise but as far as consistency and presence from early 07 till about 2010 Jim was hotter than Cam.
