Wilt was 7-1 without shoes in the pic with Arnold he was 327 pounds.

Andre was probably 6-11 in real life, though more like 450 pounds.

Both were some of the strongest people on the planet when they were alive. They should have tried those worlds strongest man competitions I legitimately think they could have been solid competitors had they trained for them. Wilt could have been a solid competitor in just about any sport actually.

for those here in TSC that may not know, dantheman is a Wilt historian. The vid he posted is one of the many he made. He had a thread on it as well. Any video with the "Wilt Chamberlain Archive" tag is his.

If Wilt benched 500lbs, that's insanely impressive given his wingspan.

in the '97 interview with conan obrien he said he could lift 600 at one point...most likely embellishment at that point. there are stories out there of him lifting close to 600lbs in boxes but that was far from a scientific estimate.
Several years after Wilt stopped playing; he toyed with the idea of a comeback. On the day he visited the Knicks' offices in Madison Square Garden; he talked to Red Holzman, and then strode out to the elevator.

When it opened, two deliverymen were struggling with a dolly piled high with boxes of office supplies, mostly letterheads and envelopes.

The load was so heavy, the elevator had stopped maybe four inches below the floor level and now the deliverymen were huffing and puffing, but they couldn't raise the dolly high enough to get it on the floor level.

After maybe two minutes of the deliverymen's huffing and puffing, Wilt, his biceps bulging in a tank top, peered down at them and intoned, "Gentlemen, maybe I can help."

They stepped back, he stepped into the elevator, grabbed each end of the rope slung under the dolly and without much exertion, quickly lifted the dolly onto the floor level.

Looking up in awe, the deliverymen said, "Thank you." Wilt said, "You're welcome."

Wilt stepped into the elevator and rode down to the street level as another witness followed the two deliverymen toward the Knick offices and asked, "How much does all this weigh?"

They quickly surveyed the stack of big boxes of office supplies. "Close to 600 pounds," one said.

Wilt Chamberlin is gonna bully and back Shaq in his prime down? LMAO! Now it's a known fact that Shaq gets no credit and is hated on in a multitude of ways but this is one of the most ridiculous assertions ever made at the site. Borderline preposterous. What's next? Mike Tyson is gonna KO Ali in the first round? LOL!

nikkas that dont watch basketball for 400 alex...
Actually you're the ones that didn't watch basketball and are looking up info on Wilt on Wikipedia and saying hilariously outlandish things. Wilt would never, EVER, EVER dominate in a league or era Shaq played in. The 90s Bulls, Lakers, and eventually Shaq's era? You cats smoke free base cocaine..plenty of it.

Who doesnt hive shaq credit? Wtf are u talking about...shaq himself would yellbu to your face that wilt chamberlain wasnt just some ordinary center...and he grew up watching him. Wilt was one of the greatest athletes ever and so was shaq to assume shaq would be 39 and 18 or some weirdo shyt with prime wilt guarding him is idiotic. Shaq in his prime being guarded by sabonis and vlade divac is damn near the same as wilt being guarded by a 6'8 mahfukka and wilt scored more and led the league in assist in a year just to see if he could

No he wouldn't...not with Jordan around. Russell would of been a loser like everyone else.
Jordan couldn't get past the celtics or pistons until they were old and pippen got better...sit the fukk down underestimating wilt and russell

Every basketball analyst player legend coach and sensible people with common knowledge vouch for wilt and russells greatness. Shaq himself with his over inflated ego will even speak respectfullyabout them but your non hooping ass just assume shaq would be scoring 60 a game every time wilt or russ guarded him? If ben wallace can play shaq one on one on defense and do this

Then two men around his height said to be arguably two of the greatest athletes of all time in duckin chucks could hold their own

The only reason Wilt Chamberlain mattered is because he didn't have to deal with Shaq on a yearly basis.

There is some evidence that would point to Wilt most likely holding his own and then some against Shaq. This narrative that players from the 60 or 70's are somehow inferior to today is ridiculous. When it comes to comparing Shaq to other great centers we can look at the following. Most of the great centers that we can talk about from Russell, Wilt, to Kareem and Hakeem to Shaq share a common opponent. Russell and Wilt played against eachother. Wilt played against Kareem Abdul Jabbar. Kareem played against Hakeem Olajuwon. And Hakeem played against Shaq.

This is what we know:

Wilt vs Kareem head to head

Wilt faced Kareem when Wilt was 34 to 37 and Kareem was 22-25

First meeting

Abdul-Jabbar: 23 pts. (42.9 FG%), 20 Reb.
Chamberlain: 25 pts. (64.3 FG%), 25 Reb.

Reg. season (head-to-head)

Abdul-Jabbar: 31.8 PPG, 15.8 RPG
Chamberlain: 16.3 PPG, 17.6 RPG

Postseason (head-to-head)

Abdul-Jabbar: 29.7 PPG, 17.9 RPG
Chamberlain: 15.9 PPG, 19.1 RPG

And in this link there is a game by game breakdown: http://ballislife.com/kareem-wilt-dunking-on-each-other-head-to-head-stats/
From that link you can see Wilt played really well against Kareem in the first year to two years and only slowed down statistically it seemed because who basically took no shots in the last two years of his career where he would have been 36 to 37 years old.

Kareem vs Hakeem head to head

Kareem faced Hakeem from when Kareem was 37 to 42 and Hakeem was 21-26

Regular Season:
Player G W L GS FG FT FTA FT% PTS
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar 23 18 5 18 9.4 3.7 4.8 .782 22.5
Hakeem Olajuwon 23 5 18 18 9.0 4.3 7.3 .599 22.3

Hakeem vs Shaquille O'neal head to head

Hakeem faced Shaq from from when Hakeem was ages 29 to 37 and Shaq was 21 to 28

Player G W L GS MP FG FGA FG% 3P 3PA 3P% FT FTA FT% ORB DRB TRB AST STL BLK TOV PF PTS
Shaquille O'Neal 20 14 6 20 38.7 9.3 17.0 .544 0.0 0.0 3.6 7.6 .474 3.9 8.5 12.4 3.6 0.9 1.8 3.6 3.5 22.1

Hakeem Olajuwon 20 6 14 19 34.9 7.4 16.5 .447 0.1 0.1 .500 3.7 4.9 .753 2.7 6.5 9.1 2.9 1.4 2.4 1.9 3.8 18.4

From the numbers there is nothing that should lead you to believe that Shaq would have been such an immense challence for the likes of Wilt. Shaq is a freak athlete but Wilt is too and is the most unique athlete possibly ever.

The thing with the Hakeem and Shaq stuff is that it was Hakeem at his best against young Shaq and Shaq was doing a lot but his team failed him in a lot of those situations. Shaq by 2000 would of given Jordan's most elite run fits in any way you look at it..that applies to Wilt, Russel, Hakeem in 94....there are always cute ways to dissect things to cast shade on a dominant entity to keep him from being called the absolute greatest of all time but Shaq was a force of nature that is likely never to be seen again. Wilt doing 50pts a game for a season just wouldn't be possible if a Shaq or Jordan level star was going strong...or should I say if he had to deal with the type of competition they had to. Those guys Wilt was going off on were soft as butter compared to the Hall of Famers Shaq and Jordan dealt with for their entire run.

Same goes for Kareem..you think he would of been a 5x champion against Shaq in his prime? Come on, man...get real. The era helped those guys out but they damn sure never came across a 320lb monster that was scoring every time he was in the paint and could ONLY be stopped by fouling him immediately to save face.
