according to the Coli, everybody washed :francis:

lets put it like this, like someone said earlier, the internet is REAL HUGE where everyone can carve out their own niche and cater to a certain crowd. That divides everyone unlike radio 20 years back where you we're forced to listen to what was considered "Poppin". The radio was an exclusive club to being "relevant". If you had radio on lock, you'd have the cheat code to be relevant as long as you were putting out radio material. Hence how Jay-Z and Nelly, Em we're doing it. NOW, it's like the radio ain't really necessary anymore, so everyone's attention span is all over the place. What might seem like an artist 'Not poppin" might seem like he is to their catered audience. Algorithms at this point rule music :manny:

this aint really the a great metric to judge as sure, wale can book 1000 person venues and pack it out, like bey can book 80K venues and pack it out....people book venues that are relative to the size of their fanbase. everyone in this thread has some fans, the premise is more about is their next project gonna hit with the general public/casuals or not. i think most of them have fans who'll tune in

wale been washed since leaving MMG
This is an important point, almost any artist with some past success can “sell out shows” :heh:

Bruh. A couple weekends, I had "Man, Khalid actually got some hits," moment, and listened to some of his older stuff, and realized the most recent hit of his own was from 2019. Breh is really remember when status, and ain't even 30. :dead:
This. Cuz was one of the best artists out at the time, and now he's nowhere to be found. That first album is incredible with the following EP not being too far behind.

*nods in agreement*

We can go on and on about whose washed or not but if they’re not hitting those algorithms or making those playlists, it’s kinda it for them.

TikTok is determining who got next now. That video of people not knowing the lyrics to that Bad Habits song outside of the hook is telling. It seems like we are in one hit wonder statue outside of the couple artists that people actually like

Steve Lacy is a session musician and is a part of a Grammy nominated group.

He'll be straight (no pun intended) even if he doesn't have a viral hit like Bad Habits again.
