Not hip hop/R&B, but Olivia Rodrigo was the last person where it seemed like she blew up overnight and all of a sudden, everyone knew who she was. She caught a buzz so quickly, I don't know if her next album is going to reach that same level. Especially if she doesn't have any smash hits.
she has white girl star-power, which is something that, particularly now, is virtually impossible for black artists to replicate

it also helps that she was a Disney star already - basically the equivalent of selena gomez or miley cyrus "suddenly" blowing up with Disney and Interscope putting the battery in their back to make sad girl pop music

billy eilish had a similar "blow up" even though she'd already been a high-selling artists for the last few years

Over fukking rated
he was in a critically acclaimed group and subsequently became a critically acclaimed artist prior to one of his singles blowing up on TikTok - I wouldn't say he's overrated, his popularity is just outsized because of social media

In this case, Disney doesn't make stars the same way they used to. Artists like Selena and Miley blew up in an era where kids were still watching Nick and Disney Channel, and they were pushed by Hollywood Records (Disney's label). They both had TV shows that were hits and they parlayed that into music. Everything was directly under Disney. Artists like Olivia and Dove Cameron became famous in a different way. Disney didn’t push them directly. They both starred in Disney shows, but they didn't become stars because of those shows. If anything, Disney was just a springboard for them and they blew up through social media and/or just knowing what the culture wants to listen to right now.

A lot of 2010's stars fading out and 2020's "stars" are light.

Honestly, I can only think of female artists right now. They basically the biggest draws. Hip-Hop is too repetitive right now and drill ain't it.

So basically everyone is washed according to the booth. Some of y’all gotta go outside. A lot of these artist y’all naming are either legacy acts or in a weird spot in their careers.

Most artist aren’t selling what they used to. Just listen to what you want and support them regardless of what the world thinks.

Social media has killed artist mystique which is why there aren’t any superstars from the new generation. A lot of these artist y’all naming can bounce back with one hit song and a good project.

Every legacy artist is a hot act that became washed.

Everyone falls off from their peak popularity.

Fab- Washed. I like Fab's music but he hasn't done anything since the Jada album like 5 years ago. Those Summertime shootout mixtapes were good though. I really miss the Soul Tape series those were fire. That's when Fab was last poppin, like 10 years ago.

ASAP Rocky and that whole crew- Washed. When is this dude gonna release another album? Thought he was bout to release after he was featured on Wave Gods on Magic. Since then, no buzz. Too busy up in Rihanna's cheeks. ( i would be too though lol )

Joey Badass- Washed. Him and ASAP in the same boat to me. He dropped a good album last year but these two dudes release music like once every 5 years.
You can't keep a buzz going like that. They both washed.

Jadakiss- Washed. Only one in the LOX releasing quality music consistently is the Ghost.

Big Sean- Washed. No buzz anymore.

Big Sean might be washed. I haven’t heard a good Sean song in a while.
