Man I ain't talking bout sales.

I live in la, I'm at the clubs, I hear what's bumping in cars.

He went platinum off selling to white kids in the suburbs and to nerd backpackers that liked his lyricism. Straight up.

But it's "cacs" fukking up hip-hop huh? So so so ironic LMAO ..(yeah im black u geek). This & Boxden are full of clowns, wannabe trolls & shyt who dont have shyt to say.

Being lyrical, telling a story is a bad thing. And i know you trolling or whatever but that type of joke is only fueling that thinking that's already out there around alot of stupid mofos.

don't know if it changed mainstream hip hop, but it was much needed. It brought CREATIVITY back to battling.
There is/was way to much of this type of shyt:

Rapper A: I have more money and I'll kill you
Rapper B: I have more money than you and I'll kill you first

not to mention rappers braggin about their jewelry collections in battle raps :scust:

Control brought NY back

YG's album may sound decent now but give it 5 years at the most and itll sound dated as fukk just based off of those repetitive ass mustard beats that everyone will get tired of sooner than later

Basically.

It was a bunch of forum nerds whose external validation leaked out of its hole.

I don't think the Control verse was ever supposed to "change" hip-hop. I think it was just respected as a moment where everyone paid attention at once, and where every felt the need to step their game up to respond to a challenge. Even if it's not a long-term change, creating such a moment like that lyrically in this day and age is a noteworthy accomplishment.
