Denzel is 66.
Forest Whitaker is 59.
Samuel L Jackson is 72.
Wesley Snipes is 57.
Will Smith is 52.
Eddie Murphy will be 60 in April.

Lots of black actors are quietly getting up there in age. Makes you want to go and enjoy their work before it is too late.

:wow:

and really don't got that many coming up who are gonna be able to carry that torch

Denzel lowkey has always been that older cat who was sophisticated and mature beyond his years. Breh was already in his mid to late 30s when he did his iconic roles in Glory, Malcolm X and Philadelphia, and when you watch those flicks now you think of how youthful and vibrant he looked...heck, he was in his mid 40s when he did Training Day and he was full of vigor and life for that role

I will say though that out of all these, Will Smith is probably the biggest in terms of hitting a brick wall. With Denzel, Forest, Samuel, and Eddie, they can play older characters. For Will Smith, he has always been an action star, and like he this 'youth' factor in Men in Black and Independence Day.

Now if he is in a action film, it looks weird in a sense as he tries to play that young guy but really he ain't young anymore.

He wasted many prime years of his career making forgettable action movies

Unstoppable
2 Guns
The Taking of Pelham 123
etc.

The only movie of his I really liked in the last decade was Fences

I wish he and Spike Lee had collaborated more in recent years

If you think you're lonely now, ohhh girl...
Why y’all keep talking about who’s going to be the next black movie stars? :gucci:

TF? :dahell:

Hollywood is way different now. The world is way different. There’s like legit 2-3 movie stars left, period. The days of the movie stars are over. There will be actors that get hella work, and are popular but Eddie Murphy 1980’s, I’m going to see everything they’re in (outside Best Defense) in the theater and it’s going to be a mega hit kinda star? That shyt is done.

And Denzel does do different movies. He did Roman J Esquire not long ago and y’all let that flop. :yeshrug:
