I don't understand why folks think season 2 was bad. It was important just like how every other season is. Everything is connected. I've read comments in other threads how they tell new viewers to skip season two all together. I even remember someone saying they fast forwarded all the cop scenes. Smh. I guess some folks only want to catch the street life.

I ain't even gonna spoil it for you but just watch season 2 with an open mind. Frank Sobatka was one of my favorite characters. Brilliant acting.

season 2 isn’t as bad as people make it out to be.

Be warned, season 2 is slow, but is needed to understand the series as a whole. Season 3 makes up for it though.

The Corner is a 6 part series the guy who made The Wire made before that show that features a family torn apart by drugs and how they all cope with the culture and other maladies within it.

I watched it on HBO while it was playing and the shyt was gripping, man. It ain't as bombastic as the wire and since it's based on a real family (played by actors) it ain't directly tied into The Wire's cannon (story) which is part truth (characters and situations) and fiction....but it's damned good, man.

You can watch it After the wire if you're inclined or even during. Plus you'll see your fair share of cameos since the director used alot of the same actors in THAT (The Corner) in The Wire. It should all be on YouTube too.

Now y'all got me interested as hell in Season 2. One of my mans told me the same shyt, that season 2 was kind of a bore.

Season 2 will definitely be a change of pace on your first viewing. You'll appreciate it more when you rewatch the entire series again though. I HATED season 2 on first viewing.

Regarding season 2, they had to add white people to the show as it was too "black" to cross over to white audiences, hence the storyline with the white boys.

That season really did set up the story for the later seasons though.

D and Wallace are becoming favorite characters of mine. Avon Barksdale da gawd moving how a gangster should move. Ace Boogie came a long way from the cleaners.

I might just put this in the OP so people can stop asking. I am 24, The Wire was running on HBO when I was in elementary school. My family did not have cable let alone HBO.

I came up in the YouTube Money & Violence / stream Power on your FireStick era, not The Wire era.
