Ohhh. I read self-help books mostly. Other than that it's books related to psychology, sports, black history and black culture.
That's enough to engage in conversation with more than a few people with the same interests.
I'm not dissatisfied with my position. I'm dissatisfied with the toxic culture at the workplace

I love my job. I hate the politics. Especially the racial shyt
There's politics at EVERY job. The more you make, the more you encounter them. Get used to it and adjust to them, they won't adjust for you regardless of your degree or stature. Use them to YOUR advantage. I leave that to you to figure out.

If the gossip/rumors don't prevent you from getting paid or advancing within your field, fukk 'em.

Don't EVER discuss 'racial shyt' around non-Black people, but DO document each and every instance uttered by them in your presence or if you overhear it. If it makes you uncomfortable, report it. May seem more expedient to take it right to the initiator in-person, but the workplace ain't the 'hood and 'beef' is squashed by a meeting with HR or whomever is tasked with those duties.

Preciate the wisdom. I try to connect with everybody there. Even the women. The best I can. I have inside jokes with multiple people there

I can talk about how the Giants better pay Saquon before next season ends, how Miami is gonna compete with Denver in the finals, how Lupe is one of the GOATS, to even how fire that recent Fall Out Boy album was. I'm a multi faceted nikka and I'm genuine. I relate to everyone no matter how little it is

But there's one guy I will have to shyt on and talk to HR about as it relates to my present day. He's said racist shyt to me about other coworkers, gossiped to me about other coworkers, gossiped about me to others. About shyt that is completely fabricated to try to sabotage me. shyt has been going on since last year. Even more evil shyt he's done that I won't even go into detail about

He's probably going to lose his job. Nobody genuinely fukks with him. Everytime his name gets brought up by someone, it's negative. It is what it is. Rather him than me

Been there before Breh...

On the other end of the spectrum is when you are quiet at work, and "Mind Your Business".

They get shook like a MF, and think you are "Angry".

Unless you are full-teeth grinning, and "Sambo-ing", they see you as a threat.

I learned to just say "Fukk It", and stop giving a Fukk!

Keep your head up Breh, and keep pushing.

Either this or start your own business OP.

I was literally born a happy person. Even got a baby picture of my parents lookin like the judge reading them a sentence while im laughing like I’m at a katt Williams show.

I’m still like that, but not at work. What gets them even more tight is when I’m laughing maniacally at my phone then look up at them like Ben Stein.

All that social media propaganda about cat calling and they the ones urging us to smile. I would smile if they carried themselves with a modicum of respect and didn’t run away and make light of serious topics.

It’s not just that I won’t entertain them. It’s the fact they know I hold back and create clear boundaries with them because I think they’re lame. It’s like they can think I’m lame and it won’t affect me at all. But then knowing what I think of them got em losing sleep at night :mjlol:

I never really had this problem although I've observed it with others.

I find that the world responds to how you present.

I have always spoke with authority on top of being being able to communicate effectively.

And I have found that white people engage with people more when they do.

I can even be totally in the wrong, but when I speak like I have some legit power behind me, everyone, from the managing directors on down, will second guess themselves, or at the very least, know they have to be on point with me.

I do find a lot of black men toning themselves down in corporate. And unfortunately, it usually does comes off as being meek.

But I come from a family of corporate executives and so I naturally picked up on the subtle cues of "power". And to be able to exercise that during conversations, people pick up those cues and tend to fall in place.

I've come across black men that operate the same way, but they're in a small minority.

I can't even vent on a "black forum" about a black issue without nikkas trolling and picking me apart as a person. When they haven't even met me

Facebook groups might be the way for me fr. nikkas look to argue in constructive threads like this. It's nuts

That prejudgment is what I go through at work. Regardless, I don't have issues with anyone there. I'm one of the best employees there. But I'm not a punk.

I speak up for myself when I need to. I'm assertive but respectful. I'm not passive aggressive like some of the men there and alot of nikkas on here are. The type of black men with alot going for them and exude that aura are the ones that intimidate coworkers. Especially non-black ones. Can't let them get to you
We not a serious people bruh, all we care about is roasting and jokes. Sorry you had to find out this way

WFH has been a godsend for corporate black men. We no longer have to put up with being judged in the office just for existing, and we get to chill at home while doing this monotonous work.
