:dead: @ those hotlines. They would actually give some insider info though, but nothing major. Usually a signing, or even just a death announcement; but Mean Gene would take like 20 minutes to get to the point :heh: Can't even count how many of my friends got their ass whooped for racking up the phone bill on that stuff:pachaha:Mean Gene even said WCW brought in a couple million a year just off those lines :wow:

I was rocking that (FREE) Talking Yellow Pages for my wrasstlin' gossip :stylin:

Breh, looking back it was hilarious how long they would ramble before giving the "dirt." I can't speak for the WWF/E one though, but I assume it was the same. I had learned my lesson before that, as one year (94) I begged my Grandmother to let me call one of those gaming tips hotlines, because I was struggling to pass a level in Ultraman for SNES :dead: Dude on the other line, literally put me on hold for 5 minutes so that he could (probably) go find a manaul and read it to me :dead: When that bill came in, and my Mother saw... :damn: Luckily I used my Grandmother as the escape goat :whew:

First and last time for me. So when the wrestling hotlines started coming around, I was like :whoa: I want to live past elementary school, thanks :sadcam: I just kept my mouth shut when I'd be over at my friends and they would beg their parents to call, because I wanted to know the inside scoop :pachaha:

I never called the WCW hotline but the WWF had one with Jim Ross and I called that one a few times. The number was still active even after they stopped advertising it on TV but it only ran previews of the upcoming PPVs by that point with Gorilla Monsoon. My friend and I actually got a live person to pick up once, somehow. I think it was around Rumble '95 or '96 and he was asking us who we thought was going to win and shyt like that.

I remember being that Ultraman shyt unfortunately:snoop:

I just can't picture them giving up info on their own booking plans back then. I also picture that WWF Superstar line being some disgusting shyt. I could never picturing myself calling that hotline to speak to Aldo Montoya after a Superstars match

shyt was like $2.95/minute :laff:

I think it was JR & Gorilla doing the audio PBP. Wasn't there WWF Radio at some point too?
Lol, yeah - shyt lasted about 6 months in 93. They broadcasted Summerslam and Survivor Series, but that was it. I read it was JR's idea too :dead:
