Dread it, run from it, destiny arrives all the same :demonic:

Cashman had no choice here...

If he didn't get this done he'd be run out of this city...No way you can got three seasons knowing you only need one piece and not deliver on that...

Hopefully Tanaka got two more solid seasons left in that elbow...
He throws plenty of off speed stuff so I see no reason to think he’s gonna fall off soon. He’s not that old.

Tanaka might wear down eventually, that is a given. That elbow is shaky. Best thing is, he's now our #4 SP. I'd be happy if he's able to give us another 3 years of above league-average or league average performance.

Cole (signed thru 2028 at $36M/yr)
Severino (signed thru 2022 at $10M/yr, with 2023 team option)
Paxton (FA after 2020)
Tanaka (FA after 2020)
German/Montgomery/Loisiaga/King/Garcia
Happ (trade-bait; doubt he makes it to 2020 spring still on the roster)

We have German (after suspension), Montgomery, and Loisiaga all MLB-ready/tested with varying degrees of success, as younger arms who with a bit more seasoning may be able to step into that 4th spot, or even 3rd spot within the next 2-3 seasons.

Then, we have a ton of young live arms on the cusp in Deivi Garcia, Michael King, Luis Gil, and Albert Abreu amongst the rest, that can replenish the bullpen, at first. Or, if things work out, challenge for one of the bottom rotation spots in the next 2-3 years. And, on the cheap.

Oh fukk no. Hell no

If Cashman brings that fakkit Hader to this team I may just check out for next season, or at least actively root for him to fail

Resign Dellin and call it a day:camby:
Yeah, it would be extremely hard to root for this dude....at all.

I haven't been following, but is Dellin not expected to recover in time for the beginning of the season??? If he's healthy or expected to fully recover, and price isn't the issue ($7-8 million for 1 year), not sure what the holdup might be.

Dellin would only cost us money and he's one of us. Hader would cost us 1-2 MLB-ready players (probably Andujar and Frazier), plus 1-2 top 15 org prospects....for a setup reliever. And I'd never root for Hader. He said what he said. He is what he is. Better off in Milwaukee than NYC.
