Yeah, that's not my point though.

Do you think gamepass price increases over the last 2 years would be the same if they didn't put CoD on gamepass day 1?

They are trying to grow just like every other streaming service.

You buy more content to bring in more users.

If it wasn’t COD they’d spend the money on something else.

Cool, they still spend 80 billion on EA or something else and end up in the same position.

My point still stands.

There would be an increase, but I doubt it would be a $10/month increase. I've always felt they were always going add a tier for day ones once subs stagnated to a certain level, and this was the level. I guess the $10 increase was a possibility due to adding fornite pass and ubisoft classic. However, I assume it would've been a $5/month price increase instead of $10/month

No. Acquisitions are not the same as content spend.

They own Activision, it’s now worth more than they spent for it.

Gamepass content spend has increased.

They are paying for big games like Silksong and Ninja Gaiden, E33 etc.

Cool.

They spent 80 billion.

Within 3 years Gamepass is now 30$ a month for the Day 1 tier.

Whatever they bought, that 80 bill was spent, and prices went up because of it.

I guess the question is, was it the plan all along? or did they try something out, like the results, and add more?

when Sony ported Horizon Zero Dawn to PC, was it the plan to also port TLOU 1&2?
The plan leaked and they held an event for their fans to say hey that's not the case it's just these four games and while in the future we may do more our fundamental strategy hasn't changed.

They knew back then their plans. They didn't just roll out of bed one day and randomly decide to open the floodgates.

Even when Blade from Arkane was announced in late 2023 they wouldn't talk about it's exclusive status. It's clear now why with that Feb 2024 shift.

They have created a carve out for Call of Duty on all tiers outside of Ultimate. How does that help the service grow?

At that same event. From the link you provided.
Interestingly, Spencer did note that while only 4 games are coming to other consoles now, there could potentially be more in the future. It all seemingly falls in line with how Spencer and co. sees the company now and where he wants to take it, literally coining it “Xbox Everywhere” amid the podcast. Spencer also did note that he will be keeping a watchful eye on the community’s reaction to these changes and address them accordingly.

When you have to pretend the information you provided doesn’t exist to make a point….. you might be in a cult…..:wow:
