Honestly, I think exclusives might be back on the table. Most of their games flopped except for Forza Horizon 5, Sea of Thieves, Grounded, and Ms flight simulator. Unsure if it was worth sacrificing brand to make small gains from porting out games. To be fair, delayed releases doesn't work most of the time unless the game is as massive as Forza Horizon series. It's why Sony is going to pull their games from PC because ecosystem is more important than tarnishing brand for little gains. I think with Asha she needs to stick with a strategy because issue with Phil he was always flip flopping on plans with half measured actions.

Personally, I don't think you can have a hardware without exclusives because people will gravitate towards hardware that has access to more games. So, they need to decide what they want to be because being a 3rd party publisher could possibly mean less revenue but better profit margins. However, are their games good enough to get the sales of an EA and Take Two? Possibly not because a lot of their franchise are on the decline and it might not be worth sacrificing 30% they get from purchases from storefront

Call of duty not being day and date I don't like. I think the flood gates are open for any game they choose now, to not be day a date gamepass release.
Now was that so hard? I know it felt like standing up to the playground bully after having your lunch money taken for months.:mjlol:

The new leadership has 3 big boons working for it.

-The relaxing on resources being drained and focused into the betterment of AI.
-Booty having more power as he is pretty no nonsense.
-A Fresh new face with fresh new takes, that can take full advantage of #1.
-A fresh new face people are more willing to give the benefit of the doubt

The nasty and hard work has already been done though... layoffs, game cancellations, studio closures and price hikes. Phil left Xbox with a easy layup, made even easier by the pull back on AI. The amount of money wasted on AI probably makes any loss in any other sector look like chump change, and Xbox was actually successfully navigating that run the whole time. So they probably have Carte blanche to move around how they need for the time being.

But let's not get it twisted, Xbox doesn't get to this point at all without gamepass, play anywhere and the push for games everywhere. And even if they did manage to, they probably would have gotten shut down during the AI push of the last 3-4 years along with the cost of making games skyrocketing even more.

Trying to battle Nintendo and PlayStation exclusive for exclusive to move hardware was a losing battle, two Japanese gaming juggernauts who's bread and butter are gaming vs one of the biggest juggernauts in the world who gaming is only a slice of a very large pie.

Not to mention PC, Mobile and streaming.

:mjlol: this would definitely have been the last console. Even in a scenario where Xbox and PlayStation are 50/50 because Xbox is buying exclusivity left and right... as soon as that money tree ends that's a wrap and they have no where else to grow or pivot with the brand because they don't actually have anything they've cultivated outside of a handful of IP's.

Y'all the ones that keep making the assumption that I don't speak on what I don't like about Xbox.

That's never been the case. :manny:

Tha Land

Phil played his part. Set them up good for the future. Now asha has to bring it all together.

Just like a sports team that had a coach develop young talent and get them ready for the playoffs. Then a new coach comes in to push them over the edge.

Good thing for xbox fans is it seems the microsoft deep pockets are finally in full access for xbox leadership.

We will see where this gets us.

The best thing they can spend money on IMO is subsidizing the next xbox.

If they can come out with a powerful machine that plays xbox and PC games at a really good price i think they could sell lots of hardware :ehh:

TYRONE GA!
What specifically does the return to the Xbox name mean? It's like calling HBO Max just Max or HBO Max again. It means nothing of substance. All these performative actions including them leaking supposedly team only communications that clearly sound crafted to speak to non-Microsoft employees alike are comical.

Corporate marketing/bullshyt 101. :snooze:

Get my share price back over 500 Nutella. :birdman:

Your dedication to the cause needs to be studied and documented for posterity and historical debate/study.
