Bootsy always said that he gets mad love from the people that sample his music. He said PE, Cube and Dre in particular, would tell him how much he meant to them and how he shaped their sound, back then.

That's why he said he always clears sh*t because he's been shown mad respect. He said when he used to chill with Rick James after he stopped working with him, Rick wasn't feeling Hip Hop and didn't like how artists used to sample greats from back in the day.
