Apparently Doug was sick of being told what to do. He threatened to quit after management pressured him to fire Groh last offseason

Seems like he's been wanting to play favorites instead of making real progress hiring outside voices. Promoting Press Taylor to be the OC would've been a disaster. We saw how poorly Taylor coached Wentz. He's one of the main reasons why Wentz was so bad this season

I respect Doug for helping us win a Super Bowl but it was time for him to go

doug has always been loyal to his staff to a fault so i definitely do. all these reports are leading with the idea that doug didnt like management influencing him on decisions for his coaching staff. i could definitely see a scenario where lurie told him in the 2nd interview that he wants outside voices with credentials to help him on the coaching side and doug wanted to stick with his guys. also we definitely know doug has an ego, this is the guy who wrote a book after we won the SB . howie coming out unscathed as usual is the only thing that has me sick.
