Would make traveling a much more fulfilling experience. Can't truly know the world just speaking one or two languages, imo.

I was thinking either Japanese/Korean, something Scandinavian, or maybe Slavic.

Any brehs have experience learning languages?

I took German for three years, it was interesting, then turned around and got stationed there 2 yrs later. Was spitting that shyt the locals, and they all had the :ohhh:


One of the best feelings is getting a chick without speaking English :mjgrin:

Learning Japanese currently. For anyone learning or wanting to, I recommend checking out the website All Japanese All The Time. It was written by a breh by the name of Khatzumoto (screen name obviously), who learned in 18 months and broke down how he learned it. The website's filled with a lot of gems and humor, and you'll learn not only about language learning techniques, but also some new insight into approaching obstacles in life in general. Highly recommend it.

Heh, this is what I was going to post.


I've actually been doing the AJATT method(not even a method) and I'm like 2+ years in. I wasn't as hardcore as Khatz was but I know a good amount of Japanese as in I can read Manga/books and text. I'm still working on my listening comprehension. I have about 6300 sentences in my SRS deck and I've learned 2100 Kanji.

I'd recommend any newcomers read the AJATT table of contents completely to understand the proceess.

I'd recommend this guy who also learned Japanese fluently from AJATT's philosophy.

So that's how you learned! Very cool. :salute:The great thing about AJATT is that you get out of it as much as you put into it. If you're serious about learning, you eventually will learn the language. I actually know two people personally irl who've learned through AJATT principles and have become fluent. One guy is now currently living in Japan teaching English, and the other guy just came back from a week long trip. And learning a new language guaranteed within a a year and a half? By using the things I already love? shyt, how could I refuse? :whew:

Those YouTubers are really interesting to watch, because you can see the journey over time, and it's incredibly motivational. I'm a beginner (I could've been fluent by now, but I kept starting over and over again smh), so seeing that it really doesn't take all that long at all is dope as hell for me to hear. And the best part is that you can apply this to any language at all, too. It's incredible.

Yeah I've started since Dec 2014. I've basically did everything Khatz did and I've gotten good results although not as good as Khatz because I've slacked here and there e.g. not reading a lot at first even if i don't understand, still wasted time doing things in English like browsing the Coli and bsing. Had I kept it as pure as Khatz did I would've wrote this entire post in Japanese! 親

My PC, Phone, consoles are all in Japanese. You know I pretty much played Persona 5 entirely in JP at first and understood about 65~% of it.

I've bought Manga/books. I can write/converse via text in Japanese but again I have to think about it(what I'm saying.)

I'd say currently my skills are:

1)Reading
2.)Listening
3.)Writing
4.)Speaking

Wasting time with classes and going to school studying grammar is a waste.
The best and most efficient way is learning the writing system coupled with a SRS and then doing lots and lots of input via reading/watching/listening and using a SRS to hold it together.



I've learned this from the comfort of my home. I still got ways to go but it's definitely doable even if at first it looks impossible and everything looks "chinese".
