I was with a dude like this pretty smart dude intellectually when he wanted to be, but he was like **** school, I am baller, played D1 ball and in Europe but never quite made it. When he was in his mid 20's with no contract, I asked him about his future and he said he didn't want a job and if he is not balling he is not doing anything. Although he lived in his mama house, with no car. I was in school and I was almost done. I realized if this ***** is not working and looking for hoopin that mean his tail is gonna try to live off of me, I bounced at that point. Sad because it was a waste of potential.

Was he ever approached by college scouts? If he had a real game, then Div I schools and NBA scouts would be talking to him. If they weren't knocking on his door... if not even one scout was talking to him, then he should drop his hoop dreams.

Yeah, back up plan is good. I worked with this one guy who almost made it. Too many rookies, not enough open spots. He ended up playing pro-basketball in Central America, and then he got injured and that was it. He had a degree so he went into consulting work.
He still plays pick-up games, but he plays above the rim... so he was explaining to me that he's picky with who he plays with. It's like he prefers not to play with low-low amateurs because that's like a 16 year old playing basketball against a 6 year old. There's no challenge.
