...i know i'm gonna get a lot of hate and shyt about this. and yes it's a long read if you don't want to that's fine....

but when i listen to all these two chord, schizo-snare beats sounding the same

it reminds me of back in the day when and1 was at it's height...and you had hot sauce and AO and skip and all them doing exciting shyt, but at the end of the day it was understood that it was a "lower form" of basketball, like a niche thing, they took a couple exciting aspects of the game and magnified them. when you really wanted to watch high level basketball you'd watch the nba.

but then you'd have a minority of idiots who would act like these guys could actually play in the league, and you knew people who ODed and starting trying fancy dribbles and shyt all day thinking they would get on the roster when the tour came around...because it seemed so attainable, and to this day there's a market for professional dunkers and dribblers but no one compares them to the nba.

now all these lex luger wannabes who stole fruity loops are all over the place making the same beat. anyone reading this thread could pick up fruity loops, get some vsts, find the right arpeggio sound and get on a mixtape in a month or two if they knew the right people...the attainability of it just threw the game for a loop, and we all know someone who thinks they're a producer cause they've mastered a sound that's extremely shallow technically but sounds impressive because of the drum tricks and all that

i'm not even hating on the actual product because it has it's place (i wouldn't want to listen to boombap in a club) but fans and critics are acting like they're not doing what any true producer couldn't pick up anytime they wanted to, except they're busy doing music that will last. i just don't understand how someone could prop up say Young Chop as the best producer out when there are people that might not have the same output but they're really producing

people shyt on RZA or Kanye or Primo in 2013, but do you really think with their ability if they wanted to they couldn't play with fruity loops and come up with mixtapes full of this (and i'm not hating either cause i fukk with the song for what it is):

basically my point is the majority of these trap beatmakers are doing what any producer, or anyone really could do, but they're being talked about in the same arena as real producers which has to stop. just enjoy the music, who cares who produced that shyt because really it all leads back to lex, then shawty redd then mannie fresh primarily. they deserve residuals from all these nikkas

the less lames with the same beat skeleton, couple VSTs and a lex luger drumkit the better.

There is a reason Mike Will,Lex,Drumma Boy and Zaytoven get paid alot more than the average soundclick trap "producer" if it was easy to make hits everybody would be able to do it.

i somewhat disagree with that part. In a sense, yeah, anyone could pick up fruity and follow the formula and make a trap beat. but anyone could pick up some random sample, chop it in pieces, lay them on pads, add throw some drums over it and make a boombap beat out of it. any formula is simple to emulate. you still have to have that "little something extra" to make it ill. that goes for any type of beats.

so no, i don't necessarily think primo, rza, etc could make super dope trap beats. Not saying they couldn't but we don't know for sure they could until they make it. It's not necessarily their groove.

I didn't mention any of them on purpose because I realize this

Maybe Primo can't make like top tier shyt like say '911'

But the same way he chops samples to the gristle he can do that with thos 808 drums and at that point it's just about finding a little melody

But RZA is already used to composing with a synthesizer so it wouldn't be that much of a stretch for him if he was really devoted to doin it

And BTW, Kanye has no grasp on how to make a trap beat sound good, everytime he puts his touch on one he makes the shyt sound terrible, glossy and overproduced (I Dont Like Remix, his part on Mercy,H.A.M.)

Mike Will and young chop, et. Al. are not making money in the same vein as more high profile producers. Essentially, they're still scraping by.
