What's drastically different is the rates - for every 100,000 white people, 2.6 are murdered. For every 100,000 blacks, 18.3 are murdered.

My bad, intraracial. But my point remains the same. These are absolutely contributing factors. But I notice that our community is failing hard at taking responsibility for things we are doing to ourselves. Even with the poor funding for many of the schools in our neighborhoods, the parents are not enforcing the importance of education on the youth. Better to get a degree from a sub par school than to not get one at all. I date a teacher who teaches at a predominantly black high school in Atlanta. She says the school during parent/teacher conference days is like a ghost town. This is the time when you go and find out how your child is doing. But the parents aren't even bothering. Are we supposed to blame Whitey for this too?

Due to the abominable racial history of this country, blacks are starting off the race significantly behind whites. But too often we go ahead and shoot ourselves in the foot to make a bad situation even worse.
