Who put gangsta rap and forced fed it after NWA got popular? More than just Hip Hop fans.

So who force fed us? The illuminati?

I dont remember being force fed anything. U sound crazy. I lke what I like.

Brand Nubians wasnt platinum. Kane wasnt platinum. Bootcamp clik wasnt platinum. EPMD wasnt platinum. KRS wasnt platinum. A lot of the rappers I liked werent going platinum so I dont know who this "force feeding" monster is u are refeing to.

So Cal
Hasn't the underground been phased out? I remember the days where blu, binary star, black star, ugly heroes, people under the stairs, atmosphere, quasimoto, elzhi murs etc were the forefront of underground hiphop and actually had buzz. No one gives a fukk about underground hiphop today. Does it even exist.
:flabbynsick::flabbynsick::flabbynsick:

there's literally more music than there has ever been.

It is a mystery

Can the coli PLEASE stop with this dumbass lie :snoop:
Lets look at the white rappers that are big right now:
Post Malone (blatant plant)
Eminem (has been around for almost 20 years)
G-eazy
Macklemore
Lil pump (edit: apparently he's Mexican)

Thats 4 people. One of them has basically always been around anyways so he hardly counts as some new shift. There's more than 4 popping black rappers right now and there always has been. The top 3 in rap are black. People keep bringing up irrelevant stats on the current billboard when none of the dominant black artists have released anything this season because they either did it at the beginning or the year or are waiting until next year.

Thats 5 people. One of them has basically always been around anyways so he hardly counts as some new shift. There's more than 5 popping black rappers right now and there always has been. When Public Enemy was erased by history from the "real nikkas" I knew that even many of these cats hate that pro black shyt. That pro black shyt made a lot of undercover c00ns and CACs real scared.

Chuck D warn y'all about this since the early 90s. That was why Ice Cube went on his own after that NWA bullshyt. You hate that conscious shyt, and now that pro black conscious shyt that was a part of history has been erased. c00ns did that :pacspit:

Exactly. CAC media loves talking about Nas. But they NEVER talk about his album Untitled (******). Everybody knows why :wow:

But they have no problem promoting watered down conscious rap like Kendrick

Watered down conscious rap is actually worse IMO. Because if people think that watered down shyt is the pinnacle of rap, then the bar goes lower on what Great is

You lower the bar, then shytty rap seems normal

These kids today are so used to Kendrick's fake conscious rap, their head would explode if they ever listened to Public Enemy, NWA, Rakim, X Clan, Ice Cube, Brand Nubian, KRS One, etc etc

OK You talking about early 90's shyt. Rakim promoted St Ides. KRS contradicted his Stop The Violence movement when he threw ol boy from PM Dawn off stage. Flava Flav destroyed PEs image with Flava of Love, Ice Cube helps Bill Mahr when he's in hot water for saying the N word.

I totally disagree with what u said about Kendrick but who in 2017 would be considered non watered down consious rap. I gaurantee anyone u name I can explain why they arent mainstream.

Nah man.

If this was a few months ago I'd agree, but someone here posted a few white youtube rappers getting millions of views.

The billboard shyt is an outdated model.

We didnt sleep. Dead Prez avoided the spotlight. They were hard to find. They hardly did interviews. They purposely avoided the spotlight. We wanted dead Prez but its like the more we wanted them the more they purposely avoided the spotlight. 50 Cent bigged them up..dr Dre bigged them up....Jay Z jumped on the wagon. Mainstream wanted them and they forced themselves in the the underground.

The south handed it away plain and simple.
nikkas turned hip-hop into some clown shyt within a ten year span.
Yall boys shoulda just stuck to Jazz or some shyt.
fukked it all up.

as someone from the south and currently lives in the south, I have to agree with this.

hip hop in the south has never been seen as an art form, it's ALWAYS been a way to party and turn up.

we're the only coast that has yet to produce a Chuck D, The coup, a Mos Def, a Paris, an Immortal Technique, a Bahamadia

emcees that ONLY rap political/conscious/spiritual. the closest thing is Andre3000 (one of my favorite artists) but his early shyt was on that street shyt

no sir. we slept. they were on a major label, their music played on the radio and got spins on BET/MTV like everybody else

the people just wasn't feeling it - I use to be a die hard fan, in college? nobody was trying to hear that shyt and I went to an HBCU.

remember, they dropped right around the time Cash Money and Nelly was at their peak...you think dead prez stood a chance then? :comeon:

Alot of these rappers pretty watered down which is my point. You actually got CACs tryna do conscious rap which is hilarious :mjlol:

I do like J Cole in that he does 50/50 conscious rap and at least knows his limitations and not talk about shyt he doesn't know about

The only other conscious rap I can name now is Big Krit, King Los, Lupe, Nick Grant, and Rapsody

Street conscious rap is still very strong though. Jeezy, Rick Ross, Scarface, Schoolboy Q, Dave East, G Herbo, Lil Bibby, Meek Mill, Yo Gotti, Vince Staples, Don Q, etc etc
