:mjlol:

The average mafukka that lived and was listening to rap in the 90s probably only can name 1 Cypress Hill song.
Key word average. Wu as a group mainly known for one album and one song off their second lp :manny:

I'm riding with the wu but cypress was an undeniable influence on the early road sound

Hence why a versuz makes sense. Wu reached higher highs commercially but cypress hill hella influential

To reduce cypress to big up wu tang just seem like a surface level way of looking at things to me :yeshrug:

And this is why u don't qualify to be in the convo.

Black Trash was critically acclaimed and their 3rd album was higher on Billboard 200 then their 2nd so your math don't add up.
I think he mean to a mass audience in the current day breh

Black Trash was a good album how often do you see it mentioned in the same breath as supreme clientele, Marshall Mathers lp, like water for chocolate, or madvillain?

It was talked about while it was hot, but doesn't have the staying power of other albums that came out around the same time

Which don't make it wack, but how many of the songs off of there is the average Hip hop fan familiar enough with to recognize?

Dude, everything you just said about albums mentioned in the same breath could be applied to both Cypress Hill and Onyx albums so I dont get where u were going with that rant.

I'm actually entertaining the idea of who would be a real match up for Cypress Hill and I concluded it would be Onyx not Wu Tang.
Cypress and Naughty. Both had the radio and festivals on lock. Both had three dope albums to start their careers. Naughty probably wins in a more hiphop setting, but Cypress probably wins in a more general music setting. Either way, it would be a dope show to witness.

:what:

You jumping all over the place.

Dude said Onyx only had 2....I brought up Black Trash. You bring up same breath albums. I point out neither Cypress or Onyx fall in said category.

Now you jumping to song choices in a Verzus when I already mentioned Remember Me which wasn't on any Onyx release because Verzus have proven the song they chose doesn't have to be on any of their albums. Jadakiss killed it with the Who Shot Ya freestyle that wasn't on any official release. So you bringing up what album the song comes from is irrelevant.

Cypress and Naughty would be a dope match up as well.
