We don’t…he’s top 15 all time when he retires
Sure but when we're comparing to the guys he's presumed to be in range of (O, Dream, Logo, Mailman, Moses, Doc, KG, Steph), this performance will now be factored in...
Particularly with Steph. Steph has the '16 Finals debacle but Durant flatlined vs Steph that same year, has this year, and an earlier Memphis and Dallas series back in OKC that hurt him...
He's been great in the postseason too but that GS stint helped his public image as much as anyone ever...
If you compare Bron and Durant year by year, there was never a year Durant was better at any age. This is what made it so silly with the "better than Bron" narrative. At 4 years younger he was struggling to be better than Bron in real time, if you went age for age its a blowout:
Y15/'18 Bron vs Y15/'22 Durant (Bron)
Y14/'17 Bron vs Y14/'21 Durant (Bron)
Y13/'16 Bron vs Y13/'20 Durant (Bron)
Y12/'15 Bron vs Y12/'19 Durant (Bron but this is probably the closest it gets)
Y11/'14 Bron vs Y11/'18 Durant (Bron)
Y10/'13 Bron vs Y10/'17 Durant (Bron)
Y9/'12 Bron vs Y9/'16 Durant (Bron)
Y8/'11 Bron vs Y8/'15 Durant (Bron)
Y7/'10 Bron vs Y7/'14 Durant (Bron)
Y6/'09 Bron vs Y7/'13 Durant (Bron)
Y5/'08 Bron vs Y5/'12 Durant (Bron)
Y4/'07 Bron vs Y4/'11 Durant (Bron)
Y3/'06 Bron vs Y3/'10 Durant (Bron)
Y2/'05 Bron vs Y2/'09 Durant (Bron)
Y1/'04 Bron vs Y1/'08 Durant (Bron)
