Tim Duncan is taking 7 shots per game this season, on average.

So far this postseason he's taking 5 shots a game.

Kobe Bryant spent his final season as the worst starting player in the league taking 17 shots a game.

And if Kobe scored 2 points on those 17 shots, you're damn right he'd deserve to get shiit over it.

You guys gotta stop hating on Timmy just because he's taken a lesser role to keep his TEAM competitive. It's what winners do.

:stopitslime: Its what people reduce to being a role player does. Duncan has that luxury and gets a pass, Kobe never had that luxury a and even if he did he wouldn't get a pass for it, but besides that who is/was Kobe supposed to reduce himself to being a roleplayer for?

And we all know if Duncan had to shoulder the load for this team shyt would be just as ugly as this last season with Kobe. :camby:

To be fair, how often does anyone bring up the game 7 where Kobe gave up on his team, scored no points and took no shots in the 4th .:ohhh::manny: Kobes flawed performances are overlooked too. Most great players get that courtesy.

ALL THE fukkING TIME :mjlol: ...that's one of the most recited talking points in the kobe hater bible (along with the 04 finals, having a bad shooting night in game 7 vs Boston in a WIN no less)...the fact that it's even framed as quitting because he didn't shoot as much in the second half of that game is what we're talking about essentially. ..Timmy doesn't get that type of treatment when the spurs lose...meanwhile muhfukkas can recite some kind of negative narrative for damn near every year kobe or Bron don't win a chip...

Stop with his revisionist history.
Kupchak and B Scott have both said that Kobe refused to take a secondary role for the good of the organization and team.

Even if the lakers were a 45 win team he STILL wouldn't have ceded anything.

You guys act like Kobe got hurt because he was forced to play all those minutes. As if he only had to play all those minutes because of his teammates. He WANTED to play all those minutes. And you all know it.

And frankly if he took a back seat, not only might he have lasted longer, he might have even seen his teammates develop and play better.

That guy's arrogance and selfishness not only led to the 3 worst seasons in laker history...it stunted development. His own front office said so.

But why is this even being discussed? Mr Mamba is finished. His last game was 20 days ago.
Tim Duncan gets a pass? For what? Taking a lesser role?

Maybe he does get a pass. I don't think so. But maybe he does.

Maybe because he's won 5 titles.
Maybe because he's won 2 MVPs.
Maybe because he's 40 years old.
Maybe because he's never been a ball hog to the detriment of his team.
Maybe because he got along with his teammates for 20 years and didn't run off future Hall of Famers.

Or maybe because even though 2 points isn't a great output, he's a presence on the floor, plays defense and rebounds well, and is a great mentor to younger players.

Or maybe you're right.

Everyone is just a Kobe hater.

The guy who got a season long farewell tour, whose final NBA game overshadowed the greatest season in NBA history (congrats Warriors)...yeah that guy...he's just got a world full of haters and they've just been shielding Tim Duncan this whole time.

:mjlol: Dude is no presence on the floor at this point breh.

He is kind of just there.:yeshrug:

Let's be honest, he gets a pass because no one really cares about Duncan besides Spurs fans. I respect how great he was, and the fact that he was a champion but it kind of ends there. He made no real impact on the game, and the Spurs have been such a great franchise for so long its kind of hard to look at one guy and say he was the reason, well besides Pop. That is why as a one time All/Superstar type player he can play 20+ minutes and score 2 points and no one really care.

MJ, Kobe, hell even Dirk wouldn't get that pass.

And maybe Kobe would've have taken a back seat had management been able to bring someone in. From the Coward acquistion to the stupid ass contract with Nash, neither of those dudes wanted or cared to be Lakers. Kobe had to WILL that team to the playoffs and they got swept without him. So had he taken a backseat they likely don't even make the playoffs that year. FOH with that bullshyt.

After Howard left and Nash got to collect free money because he couldn't play what was left? WHO was he supposed to take a backseat to? Even this year Russel didn't catch on quick, Randle still learning, Clarkson regressed a bit. That is who was supposed to carry the team?

Remember all the nights I used to quote you
Wondering why you dont post through
On the late late nights I used to @ you
Wondering why I don't @ you
And it's déjà vu
Cause I been here with you
I swear it's all déjà vu
Cause we been here, we done this, who run this, who run this
