i amEvery single critique is valid as fukk and I STILL give this a 9.5/10.This shyt was way worse than barbarian. I can't think of literally one movie that requires leaps of logic like this one does.
Takes the kids dad to be interviewed and says she will do the talking cause he had a stroke and everybody is just like ok cool this is legit. Kid buying 100's of dollars of soup and nobody is like why the fukk this kid buying all this soup. Nobody comes looking for his parents EVER. Movie makes it a point to show ring doorbell footage of the kids leaving but nobody in that neighborhood had one to see them running into that fukking house huh. This shyt was beyond. Gay dude saying "i think she just cut my hair" after literally WATCHING HER CUT HIS HAIR enraged me for some reason to
ChatGPT couldn't write something this stupid.
Walked in with no real expectations, only saw the teaser and some of the promotional stuff, nothing more. And I was pleasantly surprised, this was damn good.
The narrative tools got a bit dull in the middle but the third act just raised the stakes and the rating for me. Also didn’t expect so many funny bits. During one of the earlier scary scenes, there was someone talking to the screen like no, no, no but in Chinese. It was hard not to laugh.
I can tell by now Creggor just likes to throw stuff out there for interpolation but the AR-15 in Brolin’s dream kinda threw me off and I hate asking what was that in horror movies but seriously, was that about?
Old witch kinda dressed like the singer from Deee-Lite.
This is why you don’t watch trailers before the movie. ALL of them are misleading now. All of them show too much. I went in completely blind. And the tone didn’t bother me at all since I wasn’t expecting something the trailer showed meI agree wholeheartedly. I think this movie is like a 7.5/8. I like horror movies that don’t double as comedies.
Unlike seemingly a lot of people on this forum, I actually like Barbarian. It’s such an inversion of horror tropes (i.e., in the wrong place at the wrong time). Barbarian asks, “Well, what if you’re in the right place and any time would’ve been the wrong time?”
This movie tries to subvert the expectations by being wayyyyyyyy different than trailer. I actually like that, but I got pulled out of the movie a lot with the comedic aspects of the film. Like, my man had the meth-head get tossed four times on some Naked Gun shyt.
Generally, I think this movie is about how performing and conforming to social niceties can land us in even more dire situations than if we had just challenged the circumstance directly.
No, your old ass can’t live with us. No, you can’t come in. No, you can’t have a bowl of water. No, you can’t speak on behalf of the parents. And so on and so on.
Dope premise but I prefer a more serious tone.

Rather difficult to avoid them when you regularly attend theaters. This is why you don’t watch trailers before the movie. ALL of them are misleading now. All of them show too much.
