I feel like this movie is a great theatre experience

it is an old ass hag terrorizing people. Where they never explain. where, or how in tha fukk.
this ol hag even has these trash panda gypsy powers
weapons feels like. what this ol hag was doin before the sam raimi joint. Or how she stole the property of her victims.

This movie is basically like.
a continuation.
or misadentures of the gypsy lady from the bank.

found in sam raimi from hell horror movies.
Just not directed by sam raimi. Except this time the lady was evil froM jump and not justified in her acts.

Watched Drag Me to Hell in high school with some homies......I remember us laughing out loud for several parts of the movie. The handkerchief shyt seemed so absurd.

At the time, I thought of it as one of those....this is so bad that's it's great entertainment...type of movies/shows. The rest of the audience was not laughing, and probably annoyed by us.

Never re-watched it. But in hindsight, my young brain just probably missed that it was supposed to be intentionally funny just as the latter half of Weapons is.

(sidenote: "handkerchief" is an insane way to spell hankerchief.....I would've never guess that without seeing the autocorrect)

To me it implies that her magic was either spreading, or there was a knock on effect of her powers exposing her to others. I believe in the latter.

At first she only appears in dreams, but for the addict she appears while he's awake (though also high).
This. I figured that whenever people got too close to her trail she projected. I figure junkie saw her while he was awake because he was under the influence.

As far as the comparisons

The world-building/1st half part of Sinners >>>>> 1st half of Weapons

But when shyt hit the fan, this was more entertaining than Sinners imo, which felt way too predictable once the vampires started wilin out
Sinners might be the better movie by a hair, if only because of the epliogue/post credits scene.

But as a horror movie this is way better than sinners. the vampire parts were easily the weakest parts of that movie and we saw it 30 years ago.

but the horror parts of this movie will always stick wih me. from the kids running all weird or the possessed people runing after their target to aunt glady's hair stick and bell etc

It was good. The first part with Julie was the weakest and honestly I was getting bored, but it picked up after that.

Poor Alex. bytch ass aunt made him be a butler taking care of everything while she did her wickedness. When he used her stuff against her, at first I was :comeon:, but when the kids did their thing on her I was :salute:

Fuxk a prequel about this witch bytch. :pacspit:

But I’ll likely watch it. :francis:

Also, my only nitpick is the comedy part of it. I don’t like it when the tone of the film is filled with one aspect of it (horror) and wants to blend in the comedy in parts.

The scene where the witch is running away from the kids is a perfect example of unnecessary tone shift.

I was saying to a coworker that saw it and also loved it, as a horror film, this immediately put itself on a shelf for me. I don't know which one but it immediately entered the conversation like Get Out and Hereditary when I saw them

I can't really call Sinners a horror movie. Its a cool flick tho and I think of that movie more than weapons. Weapons is kind of a bait and switch movie kind of promising an interesting mystery but ends up being a Shamalan style reveal but with better execution. I enjoyed most of Weapons but if we comparing both movies just on quality I have Sinners on top.

Went to the early screening today. The film is stunning. I went in with an idea of what it would be about and at one point felt disappointed that it seemed like I was right, only for it to completely rug pull me. When you realize what's happening the tone shifts and becomes far more sinister. This shyt is really good fellas.

will this film make you scared of children ? :picard:

Someone mentioned the dumb assault rifle over the house. Other dumb moments were the aunt in the woods waving at the crackhead and Julie seeing her on the ceiling. Not sure the point of those because she wasn’t a supernatural entity.

I was just thinking about those today.

This shyt was an hour 40 of slow burn set up for a payoff that didn't warrant hour 40 of set up.:francis:

I'm extra hot because I avoided every piece of media after the teaser because I knew this was about to some FIRE. shyt was damn near a slapstick comedy by the end.
this is the best reply in the entire thread

i just saw it and agree with everything you said. i avoided spoilers, reviews and everything. i wasn't going in with high hopes either and this movie was a dud
