Yall dudes are overrating the hell out of this movie. LOL

1. The first half is boring and felt like it was going nowhere.
2. The teacher and the cop's complicated relationship seemed unnecessary for the plot of the movie.

3. The kid's parents going in to their "Resting" state and their jobs and friends not wondering where they are or what happing to them?

4. There's no way all those kids went into one house and nobody saw anything. None of the neighbor's door cams saw all those kids going to that one house.

5. And when the police did a search of the house, again, where kid all the kids go and then come back and not be seen by anybody?

6. The cop getting stabbed with the junkie's needle for the second time, and this time in the face with multiple needles and he just asked him if he had something and then he just kept working and didn't go immediately to the hospital.

7. The kids chasing the aunt at the end wasn't even scary. It just looked like kids running. It got more intense as the chase went on but still not scary. Actually, it got kinda "campy" towards the end when the aunt was running through people houses.

I could list more things, but I'll stop there. Rating 6.5/10

It was an OK horror movie but not as good as yall dudes are making it out to be.

. . . the running through the houses thing had people wide-open in the theater . .. and then when they rip the old bytch apart . .. . . but yeah - the shyt started off like molasses . . . i kept wondering where all the hype was comin from . . . . once they showed Auntie with her ritual and the whole possession thing . . .. it was like they saw LongLegs last year and made a refurbished version that takes place in current times . .. . the whole last act took it to a bombastic level .. . almost as bad as 28 Years Later . .. . but at least they didnt end it with some corny "family reunion" montage with uplifting background music. . .. saw it yesterday and im good . . .. we either gonna get a prequel that takes place when Gladys was a child.. . or a sequel where Alex somehow brought the blackthorn tree with him to his new life and becomes the next warlock . . .

..... i didnt read through this thread yet . . .. but fresh out the theater . . . my first reaction is that this had a similar concept as...

longlegs-4.jpg

. . . but the final 15 - 20 minutes had the room wilding out . . . . . and the way it ended was executed perfectly . . .
What movie is this?

Great movie.

Random thoughts:

Gladys reveal followed by her going to the principals house was awesome.

I wonder what kind of evil magic she was doing cause from my limited knowledge of Hoodoo some of what she was doing is used in Hoodoo. We know the salt lines are used for protection. I have a GREAT IDEA for a Gladys prequel. Would never happen but gotdamn would be fire.

That cop was an entire idiot that stayed making bad decisions.

Josh Brolin carried the movie. It really needed his brooding intensity.

I noticed only one black person had a speaking role in this movie.

Them going in that house when the cop car was parked out front was idiotic.

fukk that little kid, he ain’t say nothing? Make an attempt? Blink your eyes or something my nikka. We got cellphones take a video.

Going in I had an idea what the story was, figured it was a spin on Peter Pan. I was kind of right by way off at the same time.

I like that the villain is just 100% evil. Nothing good about her at all.

Just caught this over the weekend. Great movie but it wasn’t what I expected. It had way more comedic elements than I was expecting. Didn’t expect multiple viewpoints either but they did it all well. It was genuinely funny at parts but it still kept the suspense horror aspects of it too. Especially when they went to the kids perspective towards the end. Also I like that the ending didn’t tie everything together in a neat bow. They were mostly all still fukked up in the end.

Great film. Saw the reviews from this thread and it sold me on going to see it.

Only parts I thought was cringe was the giant M-4 rifle during the dream scene and Alex walking miles to buy baskets of Campbells soup :mjlol:

One thing I’m trying to understand is the way Aunt Gladys was physically present to us. At times I thought she was Aunt Pennywise especially during the forest scene with the junkie. Were they just paying homage?

To me it implies that her magic was either spreading, or there was a knock on effect of her powers exposing her to others. I believe in the latter.

At first she only appears in dreams, but for the addict she appears while he's awake (though also high).

This movie is basically like.
a continuation.
or misadentures of the gypsy lady from the bank.

found in sam raimi from hell horror movies.
Just not directed by sam raimi. Except this time the lady was evil froM jump and not justified in her acts.
