Nah I disagree with that. A movie is a movie.

I always bring up The Dark Knight in these type of convos because it is a movie that transcends genres. On the surface it’s a comic book/superhero movie but the film in its totality is one of the greatest films ever regardless of a subgenre.

Weapons as a FILM, fukk horror sub-genre, as a film, it’s incredible. It blends multiple genres, creates multiple character building profiles & storytelling, great camerawork, great usage of intertwining characters.

Looking at a movie as just as a horror/comedy/etc just puts it in a box. One could say Annie Hall is a romance/comedy when it’s a great, innovative film that has romantic and comedic elements.
Of course, a movie is a movie (and some movies transcend their genre) but there's a reason why subgenres exist.

Most people watch certain movies because of what they expect to get out of it and that's because of the movies subgenre. For example, if I'm watching a Western movie, I expect to see some "Western" sh!t lol.

I enjoyed this, solid 8/10. It did feel like a M. Night movie if he was still making 6th Sense/Unbreakable quality films in 2025. Just the cinematography and how the film is structured reminded me of his work, and I fukks with M. Night even if I don't love even half of his films.

Was wondering about this. We catch her in at least one lie. Alex dad says she's his wife's aunt, but in school she claims to be Alex's aunt. And we know or at least suspect that she's old as dirt from some of her comments.

I wonder if his mom is just one of her victims that she earmarked as a kid and has been keeping tabs on, waiting for when the time was right.

I'd bet they're not related at all, and she just finds ways of attaching herself to people by claiming to be a distant/estranged relative.

DIDN'T ALEX DAD SAY
SHE WAS AT THEIR WEDDING?

I THINK ALEX MOM SAID
GLADDYS TOOK CARE OF HER
MOTHER WHEN SHE WAS DYING.

I enjoyed it and it was fun. My girl kept bracing herself for something horrifically scary and it never came lol. She was like a deer in the headlights at the end. She’s been telling me she much she hates it for the last few days lol

I really enjoyed this. One of the better psychological horror movies I've watched in a very long time. Found a good balance of everything; original concept, good use of gore, bits of comedy without being satirical, had lots of "Oh that kid is gonna be fukked up" for life moments, well paced. Though I felt the ending was just a tad rushed, I think they landed it very well and I'd rather rushed than feeling overly drawn out. Solid 8.25 for me.

Couldn't she just be saying aunt as shorthand for great aunt? Don't plenty of people do that?
