i get what you were saying as far as bite goes. Hereditary is a perfect and recent example of a film that built up slowly but the parts that were creepy were CREEPY and the parts that were what the fukk, were HOLY shyt.

I can see people either being overall satisfied with what they get because the totality of the film is pretty damn good but…I can also see the criticism for not enough for all of the tension that it carefully built.
Yup. As much as I love Hereditary and the way that flick bites, that can be a blessing and a curse. It’s certainly not a crowd pleaser and those crazy moments can wane on its accessibility with audiences. Aster’s style of dark humor might turn some folks away, too. But I’m all for that stuff. Barbarian was nastier to me and I like it more because of such.

Props to Cregger being able to find that middle-ground in something that’s spooky enough for the mainstream crowd and genuinely funny here tho. Him and Peele are masters when it comes to that stuff.

Abrams’ character in particular felt like he walked straight out of a Whitest Kids U’Know skit. :russ:

Really looking forward to seeing how he does in Resident Evil.

I thought the bite was effective beforehand but what really takes it to another level was the shift to the child's perspective. It completely changes the tone of the film and makes it scarier, watching a child be abused and scared into submission by a witch. But like I said even before then I felt like it landed nearly every beat. The only pacing issue I had was the POV shift after the gas station attack. That was such a "what the fukk" moment and then bam, POV shift. It then takes a few minutes to rebuild back to that and then the film really starts cooking.
That gas station scene funny enough I loved it because it did cut away and how it cooled down.

Speaking of that, there’s changing momentum and there’s whatever the fukk Cregger went in the second half of Barbarian :russ:

But I feel similar to effectiveness, it’s a 10/10 for me, this will be regarded as an all time classic in due time but I can see the nitpicking over how vicious was the bite. Where Weapons greatly succeeded is it straddled the fence of gruesome, slow pacing & accessible for mainstream. That’s incredible and shouldn’t be downplayed.

I just got back. 9/10. This movie was fukking fire. Saw it in IMAX. The end of this movie :banderas:

-when Alex's mom came creeping out of the house to cut Justine's hair was so creepy. :pachaha:
-Marcus (Wong from Dr. Strange) had the creepiest look when he was doing the Naruto run.
-when the stampede happened at the end, my whole theater was:laff::laff::laff:
-Gladys heard that twig snap and she was like
giphy.gif

-the interactions between the cop and the junkie was comedy
-Justin Long cameo

-what the fukk was Gladys doing creeping around in the woods, when the junkie saw her? was she taking a shyt? :dead:
The biggest twist for me was the rare feat of Justin Long showing up in a horror movie and coming out unscathed. :mjlol:

Cregger said nah man, you already paid your dues. :myman:

Def feel like it had barbarian elements and feel in parts :hubie:

I’ll give it a solid 7 for how well it’s pieced together, story line reasonably good

Yl bragging about that ending tho ?:what::camby::demonic::dead:

The movie def began to drag

Not above sinners for mine

Enjoyed that more , but maybe I shouldn’t have read all these reviews before going in

Maybe that’s my bad

It’s very well put together and they keep it , that way for most part:manny::obama:

Yes to all of this. I think that POV shift right before the kid's was the one that almost lost me, but then it took a hard left turn, and I was on the edge of my seat. When one of the characters asked, "What the fukk?" everyone laughed because we were all thinking it. But it really was masterful how the writer paced it and where each POV played in the story. I also think it was cool that he gave us not-so-subtle hints about what was really going on, like
when Justine's car was vandalized with the word 'witch'. That was obvious foreshadowing, but only in hindsight. It's crazy how accurate Archer was in thinking something witchy was going on, but he was mistaken about who the witch was. I do have questions about the purpose of the kidnappings and how they helped the witch. Was she feeding on their soul? Oh shyt, I JUST realized the word 'parasite' is planted throughout this film. First on the chalkboard in Justine's class, and then later when the principal and his husband are watching TV. So the witch was feeding off of these people like a parasite.

Anyway, I said all of that to say I woke up this morning with this movie on my mind. It really unsettled me on the level of Heredity. I think that's a fair comparison, which is really high praise. I'm going to see it again tonight with my boyfriend, who is a horror aficionado, and I can't wait to see his reaction to it.

This is a sign of a good movie

Coli posters saying other posters overhyping shyt as usual

Just to say they liked the movie anyways lol

It would hold more weight if posters who say it’s trash but nope it’s

“Come on stop acting like it was THAT GOOD…..anyways I enjoyed it for what it is”

It’s either the movie is 9/10 or - solid 6.5 or 7 out of 10

If that’s not a sign for people to go check it out idk what is

it's like people feel they they have to shyt on a movie even when they like it just so they appear like they are serious or something. LMAO
it's become habit.

shyt, I was fully ready to walk away as unimpressed as I was with Barbarian. This was a huge step up from Barbarian and I’m now fully on board with this guy getting the keys to the Resident Evil franchise

We just got out so I'm gonna keep this brief. She's already looking up theories online :pachaha:

We thought it was excellent. I loved the concept and the layout of the film. It was creepy sure but it had a very slow burn that was giving us just enough tidbits to keep us guessing, keep us engaged.

Brehs... when you figure out what's going on this shyt gets wild and the third act does not let up. It's an emotional rollercoster at that point and we was just spazzing :krs: in there lol...

I'm definitely gonna rewatch as soon as I can cause these theories and allegories she's hittin me with are already :ohhh:
